Siobhan Donaghy and Sugababes (original lineup) appreciation thread

I thought the first sugababes album was good/interesting– the group members changed after that and the sound of the group did not appeal to me after that. Siobhan went on to have a solo careers of sorts..I copy some text below from Wikipedia of what happened and some of the songs I liked. Anyone else liked Siobhan or the Sugababes?

Siobhán Emma Donaghy (born 14 June 1984) is an English singer-songwriter of Irish descent. She is a founding member of the girl groups Sugababes and Mutya Keisha Siobhan. Donaghy left the Sugababes in 2001 following arguments with and accusations from Keisha Buchanan. Donaghy released her debut solo album, Revolution in Me, on 23 September 2003, which contained three single releases. Her second studio album, Ghosts, was released on 25 June 2007. On 20 July 2012, Donaghy and her former Sugababes colleagues, Buena and Buchanan, confirmed their reunion. The original trio were not able to release music under the name "Sugababes" as it was still owned by the management company. They instead released music under the new name, Mutya Keisha Siobhan.

Like so many foreign pop acts, Sugababes were not a thing in the US. My first introduction to the original Sugababes was when they got back together as Mutya Keisha Siobhan (MKS) in the early '10s. I was really digging what MKS were doing. Their voices blend together really well. Their first single back together was good but it flopped on the charts and it seems they all kinda just moved on with their individual careers. There were rumors that they had attained the rights to the Sugababes name and would relaunch the group but that may have just been rumor. MKS toured and did a lot of promotion for the shows and their upcoming music but "Flatline" was their only official release. The album remains unreleased. Though most, if not all, the songs have leaked. A few of my favorites by MKS...

I like the single - Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan just blend well together vocally imho - i.e. i may not like the song as much if it was someone else singing it - i.e. whatever these girls sing I would probably njoy I just like their sound.

Here is another track I liked years ago

Song for Mutya

Note the lyric " I got Prince singing Hot Thing to me I know every line" smile

.

I adored Flatline... I got Overload on a favs playlist and I still regularly bump it, gets stuck in my head every so often and I have to hum or sing it... "Train comes, I don't know its destination... yeah yeah yeah"

.

That live cover they did of Sweet Female Attitude's Flowers on Graham Norton was aces. Thanks to DJ Spoony for pulling that symphonic garage album together!

.

But I don't think we can expect all that much output from MKS /Sugababes beyond the occasional single or surprise performance. They've been living their lives, they've moved on from the poip spotlights, and they're about to enter that age where they'll be retro acts... so it's cool if they put out a record, but I won't be holding my breath...
