I saw Robyn's interview on Dateline on Saturday. Although I already knew this, she confirmed Nippy's drug usage was an issue from the very beginning of her career. It didn't just start with Bobby. She said they were getting high on the very first tour. But, Nippy was still able to function so the public had no idea there was a problem. It wasn't until later when the addiction really started to affect her career when she started cancelling shows and wandering aimlessly on stage, confused and talking thru most of the songs.

I'm glad that Robyn confirmed that Whitney's drug usage was an issue from the beginning of her career, and didn't just start with Bobby, because although I knew he used drugs also, including in his time with Whitney, I always felt bad for him that the media and such always placed the blame of Whitney's drug use solely on him, that he was responsible for Whitney's being an addict, in which many people believed and blamed him for.

Interesting that Robyn also debunks the Dee Dee Warwick molestation theory:

https://news.google.com/a...id=US%3Aen

.

I don't think what Robyn is doing is scandalous. This is someone telling her truth, her side of a story. Similar to Rock Hudson postmortem. Learning new potential truths may enhance her legacy.

.

It is also interesting the parallels between Whitney and Dee Dee (substance issues, same sex attraction). Do you ever wonder if the Whitney rumor was more to trivialize Dee Dee's legacy?

I saw her interview on the Today show this morning. I can see where she is coming from about not wanting Whitney's legacy to be all about drugs and BB. Granted that still seems to be the focal point. Im debating reading the book. I think i will.

From what I can tell, Robyn was one of the few who truly had Whitney's best interests at heart.

Whitney's mother, Cissy was on the road alot, her father was not very involved and W was at loose ends and not well-cared for by her extended family. She suffered molestation several times.

I also do not think her relationship with Clive was all that healthy for her either. He crafted her into something she was not, so all of these factors wounded W. Robyn, IMO, was her best ally.

Come on TrivialPursuit, do you have to be so vulgar with your language? Not all posters use foul language, or like reading it, and you should be mindful of that, and more respectable. I know that we're supposed to be all adults here (I think)..but you could have said "Stokley's penis" and "so Toni & Maxwell could have sex" instead of using the language you did. Thank you.

Just finished watching the Robyn's interview with Wendy. Robyn seems like a class act and quite reserved but fairly forthcoming.

I thought Wendy pushed a bit but it was all good.

My friend called me directly after telling me about it. The interview and/or the whole show will probably end up on Wendy's YouTube channel later today. Robyn has also been on TODAY and a couple of other places.

EDIT: Here's the full Wendy interview. It was enjoyable.

While I'm on the fence about reading this book, I feel like it doesn't matter anyway. Good for Robyn! nod she has been slandered by Bobby Brown & The Houston family for years, it wasn't until the new documentary where she got showcased with positive light, but now SHE gets a chance to tell her side of the story & I'm all for it (it is her story as much as it is Whitney's too). And I feel like the book would be a labor of love toward Nippy and hopefully serve as closure for Robyn. It is a shame that Whitney's drug addiction & crazy life style were tolerated more than the mere mention of her sexuality, but then again it was the sign of times and still is for many gay men & women of color in some places/families.

She is! I haven't seen the interview yet but I loved her in that documentary, the way she looked at Whitney & talked about her, I could definitely feel there was unconditional love from her end, I might be presumptuous of saying & I could be wrong but thats how it felt to me.

Like Robyn alot, she said she wants to bring positivity. She only made one slip so far, the Wendy Williams show. When she mentioned that they were going to come down to the radio station to confront Wendy. Other than that she took the high road, pretty much not getting into the drama of Bobby Brown and the family. There is alot of water under those bridges. Especially over the years, all the rumours of what the Houstons did, and Arista having to squash the book that the former security person was going to write. Apparently, the reason it took 8 years for Arista to invest in another studio album.

LOVE Robyn's book! I like people who have a photographic memory. It's the most detailed I ever read. I can tell she really loved Whitney & visa versa. But the book was so extremely sad to me.

NO SPOILERS..

This is the most in depth and detailed account on Whitney's life ever. I feel like we finally get to KNOW her as a person. Ups and downs good and bad. Things ONLY they two would ever know. Finally.

Whitney & Robin had a beautiful relationship it was love at first sight. Robin was her protector and truly cared about her well being more than even Whitney's mother. I truly believe Whitney died from a broken heart. Bobby co-signed that also in his book.

For a while yes. They did it together...then when Robyn stopped and encoraged Whitney to as well slowly (only when they had time...not during a tour) Whit went elsewhere (her brother).

Cocaine back then was seen as a great thing that gave you energy, kept your appetite down, and not believed to be addictive like alcohol. Of course, it was also everywhere in show business (Broadway etc).

welp neutral history from 30 to 40 years ago needs context and in essence it was "alright" back then. shrug
