At some point his beats started getting more cluttered, more treble and more "raw" sounding, I guess. I dunno, I prefer his earlier meticulous-sounding borderline shoegazey stuff. This feels more later-period Dilla and Madlib influenced or something. [Edited 11/6/19 21:22pm] | |

The Pete Rock production on this release is awesome. Seriously dope, classic but sounds really contemporary with the Griselda crew on the mic.. The EP is great. It's interesting to hear this and then the new Gang Starr. A great trip down memory lane and DJ Premier is a classic producer but in comparison to "All Means Necessary" it does sound "sentimental". Pete Rock has managed to take the old school and make it sound current. | |
