The Miles Davis Quintet: Miles, Cannonball, 'Trane and Bill Evans in the same band? Please.

The John Coltrane Quartet: This band could blow away any band in history, jazz, rock, soul, R and B, I don't care.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Steely Dan/The Police (tie)

and of course . . .

Prince and The Revolution.

Hey FluidFunk, don't get me wrong! Mike is a bad boy, word!
But when you listen to Eddie, well, let's just say Jimi's legacy stopped with Eddie. I know, I know, Eddie had his vices and we all do, but Mike could never play "Maggot Brain" like Eddie. No one could!

Oh, Joshy, what r Noiseworks doing there? They are just untalented INXS wanna-bes. Jon Stevens is just bombastic hype. Then again, so's JBJ so I guess u're b-ing consistent.

I don't really consider Prince's bands as consistently integral parts of the music and they were never together long enough to truly gel. The Hendrix Experience wasn't really a band because Jimi did most of the creative part of it. Out of respect, I wanted to include the Beatles, Santana and Sly but I honestly don't listen to much of their music (I've just got their greatest hits) and I had to go with the ones I like first, of course. The Sade "band" and the Roots also get an honorable mention.

I'm forgetting my roots. My dawgs would never forgive if I didn't put Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers and especially Trouble Funk. If any of you are putting together a mix cd for a roadtrip this weekend, try putting Chuck or Trouble in the mix. I suggest Wind Me Up Chuck (listen out for a familiar name), Trouble Funk's Let's Get Small and most definitely Drop da Bomb. Let me know if your head doesn't bob, I'll call a doctor for you.
