The song "Into Dust" - What do the lyrics mean? This song (youtube link here) is from the 1993 Mazzy Star album 'So Tonight That I Might See' - Hope Sandoval on vocals. * Do you like the song or not like the song? What do the lyrics mean to you ? do you interpret the song to mean anything? * Still falling, breathless and on again Inside today, beside me today Around, broken in two Till your eyes shed into dust Like two strangers turning into dust Till my hand shook with the weight of fear * I could possibly be fading Or have something more to gain I could feel myself growing colder I could feel myself under your fate Under your fate * It was you, breathless and torn I could feel my eyes turning into dust And two strangers turning into dust Turning into dust * https://www.youtube.com/w...LhPZFM>

First of all I adore the album So Tonight That I Might See," so for the mention today, I say "Hellyeah!" * "Into Dust"--I would ponder and generally consider the notion of mankind's mortality being juxtaposed against the potential timeless endurance of love. Pair that notion with longing toward a stranger or longing for a domineering hand? What an image the lyrics project, leaning against your lover and crumbling into dust. Real poets may have more to say on the subject. =

High five back at you !
I played the song recently after going through an intense experience and it evoked deep aspects that felt almost beyond words. I want to put my recollections into words of what the lyrics meant to me when i get more quiet time - and will post here.
(your comment also made me ponder 'what is a 'real' poet ?' does being able to let certain words out onto paper define a real poet? perhaps there is the poetry of life 'inside' everything that is alive ? example the phrase 'poetry in motion' when describing a great sportsperson (okay im rambling im obviously not a poet
