Hey, THANK YOU!

Had not heard he had something coming out.

It's been a great journey to grow with Beck and his music, so far this sounds like another great effort.

lol

well, i dislike pharells productions as well, but i think that combined with beck it might just
make for something surprisingly good.

i just can't imagine a bad beck album. although colors was the first one that didn't rock my
world and was kind of 'ordinary', i guess?

the three songs we've heard from this album are pretty good, i like them a lot, so there's
hope yet lol

it was, wasn't it? i mean, whenever those songs pop up on shuffle i kind of like them (and there
are a couple of very good songs on the album regardless) but when i try to listen to the album ,
as a whole, it seems so boring and uneventful somehow. which is so unlike beck neutral

Slowly starting to get into Beck's music, so I'm looking forward to this one. I've liked the pre-release drops so far and think they're quite an improvement on the record. Plus, Sky Ferreira and Pharrell features? love

Also, complaining about autotune? In the lord's year 2019? Ok boomer.

I never understood the 'year' argument. It's been used to death to make everything sound ok or normal.

Why would autotune be 'ok' in 2019? Because everybody uses it? That' not a valid reason. It sucked in 2005 the same way as it sucks in 2019 or whatever different year.

But yeah, people are getting dumber, low iq, but hey don't even mention it cause it's 2019 man!

Not to go on a tangent here, but I mean, the use of autotune and vocal processing can be an art itself. Now, Iā€™m not gonna make excuses for singers who use these tools as a crutch because they... ya know.... canā€™t sing, but there are a lot of musicians who employ them to great effect! From Cherā€™s ā€œBelieveā€ to Britney Spearsā€™ landmark Blackout album to the most recent works by the likes of FKA twigs and Charli XCX, autotune has long since proven its worth and I donā€™t think it deserves the instant eyeroll.

That's a good point.

Just like a guitarist uses effects, it has it's place as something you add to enhance your vocal abilities. In place of vocal abilities is where the line has to be drawn as it takes work to be a good singer.

I just listened to the new Selena Gomez single, as it's been pushed to me on Youtube due to its hit status, and the use of Autotune on it is just terrible. Young people seem to think that's the way human voice is supposed to sound?

Uhm, okay,

Beck is great, but he shouldn't try to win over the 15-25-year-olds anymore. His previous album was his worst, and I'd prefer not to hear him continue to do the things that made that record as disposable as it was (yeah, I know it won a grammy, but that's not saying much these days).
