Apparently its a Johnny Cash cover, albeit a fantastic one!!!! Been really getting into Marilyn Manson over the past 2 years and, to be honest, there is a helluva lot to him than meets the eye!! Very thought provoking, very intelliegent and articulate deep thinking guy who is very much misunderstood!! I really believe that the whole of the USA should apologize to him now for heaping the blame on him for Columbine!!! |

He's intelligent, curious about history and cultures, amongst other things. He's nothing like the role he plays. He's a friend here.
But I'm not very into his music, too many covers. |

The thing is, you could say that about Prince towards the end, particularly the last 10 years, during his live performances!! Moreorless a third of his concert setlists were covers!!! In fact, Prince performed more covers live than Marilyn Manson ever recorded!!! [Edited 10/23/19 21:09pm] |

"Tainted Love", "Personal Jesus"....
There's some great stuff, but, wasn't it Marilyn Manson the band who put together the better Marilyn Manson albums? That's kind of a weird situation where Marilyn Manson the band essentially broke-up and the quality slipped but Marilyn Manson the singer still gets the accolades/notoriety, which I guess he always did in the context of Marilyn Manson the band where you wouldn't even think Marilyn Manson the singer wasn't even really writing all of the music for the bigger Marilyn Manson records, which were really put together by Marilyn Manson the band. |

"Tainted Love" video was ace, he's like the goth Hugh Hefner in that one. |

Highway to Hell, Down in the Park, Golden Years
Brian keeps trying, can't fault him. Old Town Road blew up because they did something new with it though. I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world. |

Marilyn Manson really does do a lot of covers.... I really can't believe anyone would argue the contrary. |

Plenty of artists go HAM with the covers live, that's different. What matters to your typical fan past, present and future is the recorded discography or studio oeuvre, of which Prince is usually noted for how few covers he performed out of so many hundreds of songs recorded. |

Pretty much. He's worked with some extremely talented people and could never really match his past work as a result of that. He also has nothing to say anymore so the only time he resonates is when he covers other people's work.
What was once scary and subversive is now commonplace and mundane.

Its so sad, when an artist as prolific and provocative, as Marilyn Manson, ends up being just another covers singer!! Hes almost becoming the Goth answer to Bryan Ferry, yet another covers artist who was excellent when he fronted Roxy Music, and wrote some of the most defining music of our lifetime, but as a solo artist about 85% of his work has been covers!!! |
