Songs with a peaceful or spiritual message

Hi. For anyone that likes this aspect of music some of the songs I like are below. I am interested to hear other spiritual or peaceful songs from any artist from any part of the world - any religion or spiritual tradition. Cheers for any links or recommendations. (Of course Prince also has many songs with a spiritual lyric).

*

George Harrison – Give me Love Give Peace on Earth

https://www.youtube.com/w...-KAvPbO8JY

*

Bob Marley – Positive Vibration

https://www.youtube.com/w...elH2Qm5orE

*

Crosby and Nash - Lay Me Down

https://www.youtube.com/w..._Pa_0K4u5M

*

Chakrini – Hey Gopinath

https://www.youtube.com/w...7SUZqQsybo

*

George Harrison – My Sweet Lord

https://www.youtube.com/w...CNeM2dWiwo

*

Vibrasphere – Tierra Azul

*

Mercy Me – Best news Ever (Reality Gospel Choir also have a beautiful version but couldn’t see it online)

Letoya's Free The World. Such a powerful, powerful message. If only we, humans, learned anything from it. It reminds me of Greta's "How dare you?". That's what the song asks the world "How dare you?". It also asks "How could you?" and even "How was this possible?".

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

for the all beautiful songs you listed - Al Jarreau, Lennon, Letoya etc - and some of which I had not heard before and am liking a lot too including The Ensemble and Highway QCs. And for reminding me of Howard Jones and his positive vibe - 'New Song' used to be one of my favourites! Cheers.

Johnnie Taylor was in the QCs in the late 1950s and he's doing the lead on the song posted above. Sam Cooke was in the group before Johnnie, but I don't think Sam recorded anything with them. Lou Rawls had been a member of the QCs too. Sam & Johnnie was also in the Soul Stirrers but not at the same time. The Ensemble's entire album is posted on Youtube if you're interested. You can check out their label Strata East which focused on spritual jazz, but a lot of it is instrumental though. A few of Spike Lee's relatives was on the label in a group called Descendants Of Mike And Phoebe.

Thank you very much for the information. That is interesting. There is always more music to be discovered. Spiritual Jazz sounds interesting - I havent listened to much jazz - I have some Miles Davis LPs such as of course Kind of Blue and some Wynton Marsalis. Years ago I had some acid jazz cds - when I lived in Australia friends and I used to go to a well known jazz club called the Basement - good times. I like Esperanza Spalding also.

Which all reminds me of a song I havent played in a long time - Prince and Miles can i play with U.

We must bring an end to all discrimination
Let's free the world
And make a better place for children throughout the world
Why should they suffer from our battles
They are, our future
They are the voice of tomorrow

Divided by a land
Devastation's here at hand
Let's free the world
But is it that simple

United we must stand
In this war possessed by man
Let's free the world
But is it that simple

Years and years of war
Let's bring it to an end
All because of man
Why can't we put it into God's hands
Let's free the world
But is it that simple

Creation was his plan
Children learn and take a stand
Let's free the world
But is it that simple

[Chorus:]
We're all God's creation
Across all nations
It's time for us
To come together as one
Let's free the world

Join your hands
Let's pray to him to save our land
Let's free the world
But is it that simple

Faith and love from up above
Will get us through
Let's free the world
But is it that simple

[Chorus:]

(Chorus 2)
Let us end all discrimination
Across all nations
It's time for us
To come together as one
Let's free the world
But is it that simple

We are the future
The next generation
Please don't destroy
Just protect all nations
No more fears
Our future's clear
All this because of segregation
Education, communication will end discrimination
Let's free the world
Let's free the world

That's because you don't know Free The World by Letoya Jackson. If you knew it would be the first or the second to come to your mind. At worst the third.

Michael's SISTER? Oh, GOD, no. She can't sing. Her voice, to ME, is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I'll still give it some ear tho. Thanks! Peace!
