I've pre-ordered 'Madonna' and 'Who's That Girl' as I'm missing these from my vinyl collection. Just need to get a copy of the red 'You Can Dance' vinyl now!

Did you get that pink vinyl with 4 tracks on it from a couple of years ago? I think it was "Like A Virgin" and 3 others. I didn't.

Yes, Like A Virgin & Other Big Hits. Got it at a good price.

There's a rumour that Like A Prayer is being reissued in November... 30th anniversary remastered, deluxe 4CD edition, picture disc, etc. Has been listed on a Czech website for pre-order. Have to wait and see if it's true.

Be interesting to see what they fill the discs with, can't imagine it will have 3 CDs of remixes, even though there's probably enough to fill 3 discs.

Well, wasn't that a great run of pop records. Great memories - and how many teeanage boys fancied Madonna ;0)

Yes. 3 of the 6 Madonna albums that I like. I'm not too interested in the Who's That Girl soundtrack but the other 3 are must haves for me.

Now, what's the odds on getting reissues for Erotica, Bedtime Stories and I'm Breathless?

Yes all her 'studio' albums were reissued on vinyl a few years back. Who's That Girl was released on black vinyl earlier this year and I'm Breathless is to be released on yellow vinyl at Barnes&Noble later this year. The majority of her albums have been reissued on clear or coloured vinyl over the past few years. Unfortunaltely the artwork reproduction isn't the best on the vinyls (Erotica has (c)1989 when it was released in 1992?!) but it's good to have them all available on vinyl.

What a wonderful record.

It really reminds me of how Janet released the very hard-edged, street-smart, gritty Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814, then followed up a few years later with the velvety janet. album.

Madonna's Erotica had a purposely rough edge to it in production, and even vocals (she was a longtime fan of using a rougher vocal than a more polished one as in later years). Then she followed up with something lush and silky with Bedtime Stories. Even something more electronic like the "Bedtime Story" had a soft undertone to it.

And yet still, they both released some of their most personal albums to date with Ray of Light (arguably since Like A Prayer), and The Velvet Rope (within a year of each other).

But I loved the pink and blue and white of the album, the bedroom pics, the soft sexuality visually and aesthetically. I wish that if it's ever remastered and released w/ some outtakes, that the Tupac rap for "I'd Rather Be Your Lover" is on it.

So are those three your other favorites besides her first three, to round out the six?

Yeah. They're the only 6 albums of hers that I really like. I can't get on board with anything after Bedtime Stories. Just not my cup of tea, you know.

Ray of Light was my The Rainbow Children moment. Everything after that album(s) was questionable, everything before was relatively genius.

Ray of Light - 95% perfection

Music - mostly

American Life - nope

Confessions - totally yes

Hard Candy - no fucking way

MDNA - 50/50

Rebel Heart - no fucking way

Madame X - mostly yes

I do like the charm of Something To Remember with all ballads and a couple of new tracks. But I didn't include any compilations. The 2nd half of Erotica took me a bit ("Thief of Hearts", "Waiting", etc.), and Like A Prayer is pop perfection. I actually think True Blue is more bubblegum in production than either of the first two records. Those two were pop perfection, but there's something on True Blue that ain't right. Still some good songs on it, obviously. (I saw the tour in Philadelphia 1987.)

Erotica and Ray Of Light are my two favorite Madonna albums, too smile sometimes I can't decide which one is Number one on my list.

I will say this, though: the first song on ROL,"Drowned World/Substitute For Love", is the BEST Madonna song of all.I still get chills when I listen to it.

I find MDNA to be alot stronger than some fans think it is.I don't like everything on it,but there are so many highlights:

"Gang Bang"

"Some Girls"

"Falling Free" (should have been a single)

"Beautiful Killer"

"I'm A Sinner"

"I'm Addicted"

"Love Spent"

are all top-notch songs.I also like "Best Friend".

I loved MDNA when it firt came out and the MDNA Tour is one of my favourites, i just feel it lacks depth compared to other albums and is very much a phoned-in album.
