New FUNK - TUXEDO III The last thread timed out but with the album officially coming out this Friday, and me having received my copy today, I thought I'd just post a quick review. First things first, the album is funky. Very funky. It's just groove after groove. There's actually very little in the way of ballads but I suppose Mayer Hawthorne's upcoming solo album will remedy that. Standout tracks for me are the previously released The Tuxedo Way and Vibrations but Extra Texture (featuring Dam-Funk) and If U Want It are also among my favourites so far. I say "so far", because I've only listened to the album twice. All in all, it's a really, really good album. In my opinion, it's better than the first album but probably falls just short of Tuxedo II. Although there isn't much in it, to be fair. The only thing I'd mark it down for is the amount of collaborations and guest spots. They won't be an issue for some people but I would have rathered just Mayer and Gavin Turek on vocals. But it's a minor complaint, really. Definitely recommend this album to anyone looking for a new funk album and if you like what you hear, go back and check out the first 2 Tuxedo albums. | |

I always enjoy their albums.Their focus is strictly on Old school-influenced,early 80s synthfunk.They keep it pretty simple and I like that. | |

So far,I’m very impressed.These guys have done it again! These songs are fun,extremely catchy and hard to resist.There’s nothing heavy or challenging here...just some terrific grooves to get you moving! | |

My husband had to get his down from the attic. The sound is amazing though. Though I'm pretty sure that the speakers are doing 99% of the work. | |

Now that I've had about 10 days or so with it and had the chance to absorb more of it, I can honestly say that it's the perfect summer album. I was a bit down in the amount of collaborations before but having spent more time with it, they've grown on me. I could still do without the rap on Dreamin In The Daytime though. But even at that, that's still one of my favourites on the album. Having had more time to reflect on it, my only complaint is that it's too damn short. 34 minutes is not long enough for me. | |

yeah,the rap on “Dreaming In The Daytime” is the only thing that I would remove.These songs simply don’t need any raps.The other cameo appearances don’t bother me at all.Yeah,the album is short but I think that’s part of its charm.There’s no room for self-indulgent filler they keep it short and simple.

hey Emma, I just played some of the 1st 2 tracks of "Tuxedo III" & I immediately liked this music (this rarely happens when I play/hear any music for the 1st time) it IS funky, it's good to dance to.. I'm going to have to go back & check the other music they've put out.. . thanks for the recommendation..! I'll see you tonight..
