The Jackson Family Thread I know its been a while since I've done this, but I wanna bring back "The Jackson Family Thread" for good, where everyone can go here and post anything MJ, Janet, Jackson 5 and/or anything else Jackson related. To the moderators of this forum, please make this a permanent sticky, way too many scattered threads of the Jacksons. Please make this a sticky where anyone can post anything Jacksons. As long as its no bashing nor disrespectful of the entire family.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

remember Rebbie's 1984 hit "Centipede"? That was a hot track the lyrics didn't make much sense to me,but that chorus is incredible!

Yeah, I spoke to the Church Of Latoya about that and even talked to the headquarters in East Timor. They said they would lobby the Grannies for Toy. Did they do that? I don't know, but I do know Toy didn't win a Granny. We all know- and let's not pretend we don't- that Letoya's not as big in the US as she is in Asia but I hoped they would go beyond US-bias. They didn't. Forgotten but not forgiven. [Edited 7/17/19 14:53pm]

You know, as much as Jermaine is known for his crazy California Raisin hair nowadays among other things, I wish he were known for his actual recording career. Scant in the way of hits, but combing over it I really hear someone who could have conquered the quiet storm and AOR(&B) niche.

Jermaine had several R&B hits, mostly in the 1980s. But few that crossed over to mainstream pop stations. On Youtube it seems his most popular song is the duet with Pia Zadora, which to this day I've never heard on the radio on any format. I saw the video on Friday Night Videos, that's it. I think that Jermaine didn't catch on like Mike & Janet is because he didn't have an image and didn't dance. On R&B radio, there was Luther Vandross & Peabo Bryson doing similar kind of music and on pop radio there was Billy Ocean, Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie plus Peter Cetera & Richard Marx and other AC singers. Jermaine has had enough hits that he could easily be out there touring.Songs like “Let’s Get Serious”,”Dynamite”,”Do What You Do”,”Daddy’s Hone”,”Let Me Tickle Your Fancy”,”Don’t Take It Personal” and several others are well-known to R&B audiences. He should hit the road with a few other artists (maybe Stephanie Mills and Jeffrey Osborne) and celebrate his own career and hits.
