I'm hoping to catch Morris Day & The Time with Sheila E. in Atlantic City next month, the week before Madonna's Brooklyn concert that I am definitely attending. . I got to attend the NYC WorldPride Closing Ceremony a few months ago with performances by MNEK, Jake Shears, and Melissa Etheridge among others. Melissa Etheridge did an acoustic solo set and it was outstanding. I'm not sure why but they had her open the show and I'm so glad I got there early. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2 |

I love me some Corrine, and have seen her on a few occassions. She was the opener on this "Summer Tour" and we were running late, so I heard a handful of songs from outside the amphitheatre venue, and spied her in a lovely sparkling copper dress at the end of her set. Definitely go see her--she's inspirational. Maxwell killed it! He also big-upped his tour companion. | |

Anderson Paak will blow U COMPLETELY away live! He is so gifted and talented. He can also sing and play the drums at the same time like Sheila E(whom I just saw a couple a weeks ago and also amazing live. Wow, just listened to The Alarm's new album "Sigma" that I picked up at the concert I went to last week and it is urgent, vital, and full of life force. Totally impressed by this album that went to #1 in the UK but was unaware of. Speaks to me... I'll rank it up there with Tedeschi Trucks Band's album "Signs." Last gig I was at was Bon Jovi back in June. Jon Bon Jovi may not have the voice he once had but he still sounds incredible. They really do put on a great show and they pack it full of both hits as well as lesser known songs and even a couple of Jon's solo numbers. | |

Saw Kiss back in February & was very entertained, their stage show alone is unparraleled. Saw Mccartney last month in San Jose & even though his voice is shot the band did a good job of covering & the setlist was fantastic. Going to see KISS again in Sept & most likely Fink in october. I decided to go to see Queen in Nashville last night. I went with someone who likes Queen but not particularly a fan. We both thought it was one of the best rock concerts we have ever seen, and I have seen many of the legends. The weird thing is that as much as I like Freddie more than Adam, the concert was considerably better than when I saw Queen in 1980. I loved the set list, which didn't overly cater to the US crowd by including some non-hits (Lap of the Gods, 39, Doing Alright for example) and songs that were hits around the world except for the US. The sequencing was perfect. The crowd was sold-out, exceptionally diverse in age but uniform in their extreme enthusiasm. There were several amazing ways they honored Freddie, all of them were touching and well received. Adam was surprisingly good though he couldn't hold a candle to Freddie on the hardest rock songs. That said, he was phenomenal on Somebody to Love, Who Wants to Live Forever, and the Show Must Go On among others. Outside the Freddie tribute, the highlights were the stunning guitar playing by Brian May and the best light show I have ever seen.
Sorry for rambiling like a fanboy. The answer is yes, I have been to a recent concert by Queen. |
