lyrics websites accuracy..??

(please forgive me if this has been posted anytime recently.. I tried to search for this but didn't see any such post..)

.

is it just me, or do most lyrics websites have at least "some" lyric errors - be they typos or the incorrect words??

to me, this seems to be the case. I.. have the impression it's like karaoke (lyrics on the monitors in karaoke - to not "copyright infringe" &/or to be able to use the lyrics without paying for them, the karaoke companies & these lyrics websites intentionally misspell or print wrong/incorrect lyrics..

.

is this the case?? or am I.. missing something??

.

( 1 basic example : Earth Wind & Fire's "serpentine fire".. on the website lyric find, they have the 3rd verse starting as

"I need to see your face in the morning sun ignite my energy"

but in the actual song itself, the lyric is

"I need to see your face LIKE A morning sun ignite my energy"

you can clearly hear the correct lyric above...)

Inaccurate lyric transcriptions are plentiful. I've bought records, tapes, CDs, and sheet music with incorrect lyrics. So it's no surprise online sources are wrong. Nile Rodgers used to have a lyric section on his personal website and I noticed some of the same inaccuracies that are reposted on lyric websites.

I don't even think I've ever seen a song completely accurate top-to-bottom with these lyric websites.

It's even more egregious with those YouTube lyric videos, because they got each line taking up an entire screen playing along at the exact same time as the line is sung and still they're clearly incorrect 10% of the time.

ah, so y'all believe it's simply the sites themsevlves.. they aren't "intentionallY" posting inaccurate lyrics, but maybe/rather they're not confirming the accuracy themselves.

.

I do keep certain lyrics of certain groups & certain songs. I'm the type of person who will check/edit the lyrics (that I copy/paste) to ensure they're accurate..

.

thanks for the feedback..!

Some of the worst I have seen is for American albums reissued in Japan where someone has translated the lyrics.
