Maybe because the bigger Janet fans don't really post here much any more. They tended to only participate in Janet threads, and not ones about other acts. I've seen LaToya mentioned here more recently, mostly because of one poster. This part of the site is kinda ghost town in general. I guess there's no new D'Angelo album for them to talk about. I think also because of Janet getting blacklisted after the superbowl, she has kind of dropped out of the mainstream keeping up with her.
.
There's a new D'Angelo album? Why isn't there a thread? Tell me more!
Yo I just saw her full Glastonbury set was on Youtube, figured I’d flip thru but I ended up watching the whole thing it was fun she looked really happy, the show is like a hit parade.
I thought her Glasto set was a bit disappointing. Her vocals were really low in the mix, you could barely hear her sing most of the time ... if its her sound engineer's fault he needs a rocket up his backside, if it was her choice she needs to have a word with herself.
She also didn't spend enough time on the big hits that a UK audience would know. You need to pull out the big guns when you're playing the Pyramid Stage because the vast majority of the audience there won't know the deeper cuts.

U try dancing a whole set with powerful vocals. It's not easy. It was people in attendance that loved & enjoyed her performance. Janet did include & fit in her biggest hit singles in her flawless headlining short 48 min performance.
"That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when was doing the Purple Rain tour had a lot of people who knew 'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream."

Seen plenty of other singers manage a high energy set with solid powerful vocals.
Her performance also wasn't a headlining set, it was an afternoon slot.
I saw a Queen doing her thing with confidence. Sure the volume could have been louder or she could have tried to compensate by increasing her delivery's power but I think she did a nice, chill job. Nothing over the top, just funky beats, dancing and memorable tunes. Of course there was some "miming".
Janet is a very likeable person, but it's no secret to anyone (except for maybe one particular person on this site who is ridiculously over the top with their fan loyalty) that Janet has a very weak voice. She has a nice sound at times, but her voice is extremely weak. Always was and always will be. Maybe someday she will stop all the moves and just sing? Hey, what a thought

i love her albums from Control to Damita Jo, but i agree with you...i was there for the amazing beats, rhythms, and production work of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis not for Janet's singing...she's not a bad singer, but she always seemed to be just an accesory to the great instrumentaion, not gifted enough to stand out apart from it...but of course her zealous fans will be very uspet with that sentiment which is what "fans" have free will to do.

That being the case, Glastonbury probably isn't the best stage for her ... its not really a festival for production and dance choreography, no matter the quality.
I've stood at the back of the Pyramid Stage field and you can't see sh*t on the stage, so it has to be about the music and the sound quality.
I'm praying praying praying Jan will duet with Letoya. I hope this will finally happen. Can you imagine the star power in the studio with the two of them? Well, yeah, perhaps Jan isn't really that big, but that would be SO RAD!

After Janet gave Latoya the look in the baby sister video?
Janet has been getting AWARD AFTER AWARD AFTER AWARD in the past year and was just inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame. Plus she just had a MEGA hit last year with 'Made For Now' that topped the US Dance Club Songs chart, becoming Janet's 20th number one single.
The past year eh? So you don't think that has anything to do with Les Moonves getting fired from CBS last year. It's been reported that he was the main person behind getting Janet banned from radio & TV.
Sure did, that BUM.
Glad Janet's coming out of that rubble. I will forever sound the horns for Unbreakable, that was a return to form as far as I'm concerned
Control, Control: The Remixes, Rhythm Nation 1814, janet., The Velvet Rope, All For You. are all being issued on black and regular vinyl. A couple have never been issued on vinyl in the U.S. before at all. I have 1814 & A4U on vinyl. But I did order Control on red vinyl, so I'll have 2 copies.
There are other nice items on her store page as well. The newer colored vinyls ship on our around August 2.

Early reviews for the colored vinyl reissues are sadly negative--at least for Control. The sound quality is reportedly bad.

I had a friend who had problems with a Fugee's colored vinyl release. He went through two records, then realizes he needed to adjust a few things on his turntable then was fine. So sometimes I chalk those things up to user error, other times it could very well be the medium as you noted.

"Whoops Now" sounds so out of place on the "Janet" album. I always thought it sounded like something that was recorded in the early 80s, like during "Dream Street" sessions.
That's probably why it was a bonus track rather than part of the album proper. To me, it's the stepsister of stuff like "Escapade", "When I Think Of You". It is a unique bop, though. I love that she still made a video for it, though.
I remember when the album was out. I had it playing in the living room, but I was attempting to nap in my bedroom. The last tracks played through and I was just about in that last conscious place before I was out. It was quiet in the house. Until I heard voices. I'm like "Who the fuck is in my house?!?!" It was the voices at the beginning of "Whoops Now". I had no idea there was a bonus track, and Janet and the girls talking before it scared me wide awake. It was that moment when I learned about hidden bonus tracks.
Thanks, Janet.
Hidden tracks also ran up the "total time" display when you loaded the CD so it seemed like the album was longer when it had about ten minutes dead air

I really needed an affordable copy of The Velvet Rope
