Her pose on the Honey album cover looks exactly like Prince's photo on the same pose that's on the artwork for the 1999 album. I absolutely loved it. The video's a lot of fun, very reminiscent of the 80s!

Unpopular opinion with some extras: As a singer, I can't stand her. She's just horrible, to me. Her voice grates on my nerves, her music is subpar, flat, and - dare I say - reductive. Any Prince "tribute" is a swipe at a new audience; it feels inauthentic. But she was probably a Prince fan, so it's whatever.

Robyn's problem is much like Kylie's. While she's talented in her own arenas, she's too Euro to make it in the U.S. in a huge way. Kylie's had a few minor hits here and there in the U.S. - some bigger than others and probably more than Robyn - but she's huge in Australian and the UK. Robyn's results are similar, not identical. She feels very European in her music. Nothing wrong with being European. There's a certain pop sensibility you hear in the US and a kind you hear in the UK. Sometimes one will appeal to the other side, but I believe more often than not it doesn't crossover. Folks like George Michael loved American soul music, so his influences crossed the pond more easily. But then you have people like Robbie Williams who had what, one or two hits in the US? (I can only think of "Rock DJ" off-hand.) I wanted to hear more from Williams, and listened to his bigger hits. It was songs popular in the UK. I thought "This is just horrible!". I gave up, disappointed.

I went thru the same thing w/ Robyn. Every other homo I know raves for a Robyn song, and I'm like "What the hell is this shit?" I was always hopeful, and always disappointed. But, if she's having success in the UK, good for her. She should work where she's making the money. She's not ever had an album crack the top 10 in the US, but has hit #1 in Sweden, Denmark - places like that. Clearly, I believe my theory about sounding more Euro than US holds some weight by her chart success in Europe vs the US markets.

I'm sure she's a lovely gal, but I couldn't care less to hear her sing.

It may not be the case for the rest of the U.S. but she sure makes money in New York. She sold out Madison Square Garden back in March and her upcoming show this month at Barclays Center has very few seats available.
