I played the shit out of it last year and it was a breath of fresh air. A real band, real singing and a great sound. It seems almost more like an alternative record like the Beastie Boys than it does rap. I liken their sound to a combination of Prince, Tricky and the Beasties, but totally their own thing. It's great.

This album has only very recently been added to my collection but I love the vibe on 'Things Are Getting Better'.

it's very good. [This message was edited Fri May 2 15:30:48 PDT 2003 by kawikabot] Love's no fun when the one you love don't love you.

I saw them live around this time last year and they were way better than I could ever imagine. One of the best shows I've ever seen. And the Detroit crowd gave them a lot of love and knew all the words.
Have you noticed that "Run To The Sun" has the same vibe as "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker". "Tape You" and "Baby Doll" are some funky shit too. I hope they have another album soon. The N.E.R.D. stuff makes Neptunes sound like childs' play. Pharell was really cool in person too.

Nowhere near as moved as I was by that Stevie song you mentioned to me on the 'Life Coaching' thread. Love that song!

By the way, Tron. Can you recommend some essential Bowie? I only own Ziggy.

And while we're at it, Supernova. Stevie-wise, I'm only tuned into Talking Book, Innervisions and Songs In The Key Of Life. What else is absolutely essential?

These are the next 5 I'd get in order: Low "Heroes" Heathen Scary Monsters Station To Station Nearly everything by him is brilliant, but these ones are absolute stunners.

Glad to see you've discovered "In Search Of" as it is a fantastic album! It is solid from start to finish. Not often does hip hop focus on the subject of love, but this album does. It is truly a unique, intoxicating and intriguing listen. I love every song.

this is one of my favorite albums too, I still play to death even though it's old, I love Brain, Provider, Tape You, Run to the sun and Rock Star, I like to listen to this CD when I feel like just chillin', I can't wait til the neptunes come out with their new CD, by that time I'll be married to Pharrel Williams ...
