I agree. I always hated the way he sped up the vocal to make it sound like a chipmunk. I guarantee he would not have done the same if he were using a sample from his beloved Beyonce.

I think she's making too big a deal of this but hey, it's her opinion.

That trend of sped-up soul song samples in rap was always super shitty.

CK speaks on Prince, Whitney, Aretha and that Joni Mitchell album that sounds like Joni just might appear on.

DJ Screw has done the opposite with Destiny's Child songs. Chopped & screwed is more a remix than sampling though.

STRAIGHT shooter! Tells it like it IZZ! And ANYTHING, K.W. does is "stupid" in MY opinion too. Anyone can rap. Not everyone can sing, and why on earth are these idiots cheapening Old School treasures with their shitty, autotuned voices OVER it? It IS "insulting." Love me some Chaka! <3

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Anyone cannot rap well. Find any random person to attempt Alphabet Aerobics and most will fail. Listen to records like Superbowl Shuffle by the Chicago Bears football team and that isn't good rapping. Also hip hop isn't the only music that uses samples. Everything on the hit single Tom's Diner is a sample. The DJ/producers DNA took an acapella from a Suzanne Vega album and put a beat from a Soul II Soul record on top of it. There's also a group called Koop in which their entire album is hundreds of small samples they mix together and have different singers on the songs. If you didn't know that, you'd think it was a band playing jazzy pop. The samples on Koop's stuff are not used in a Puff Daddy rapping over an instrumental of a track way. George Michael samples Funky Drummer, Janet Jackson has lots of songs with samples, and the entire drum & bass genre is based on a beat from Amen Brother by The Winstons.

When you said anyone can rap I don't know if you were referring to the fact that there are

rappers out there who rap but don't rap well but are making money because of an image.

That would be more accurate because there are over a dozen rappers who fit this description and

rap with idiotic diction.

I agree anyone can rap. Not everyone can rap well. But, yeah, literally, unless you are highly speech-impaired or mute, anyone CAN rap and feel they can gift it to the world via Youtube. lol

I feel her, especially since it was her vocal that was chipmunked.

I read that BOB JAMES even denied Souls Of Mischief from sampling "Angela (Theme From Taxi)" because they had sped up the whole thing. Their song "Cab Fare" has been widely bootlegged, but never approved.
