I remeber a friend called me something was wrong with MJ. I turned on the news watching CNN.

It was a big thing. I still have the newspaper from the next day.

MJ was always a huge media thing. I remember not really being in shock (i cried when i heard Prince died) but MJ is something lager than life. I think he is the only artist who reached that point when everything that happens to a person is huge news. Its amazing to have a closer look at it.

Here is one man and everything that happens with him shocks the world.

I was at work. Let's not forget that it was also 10 years ago today that the lovely Farah Fawcett passed away after a long, excruciating illness. RIP to both.

Was at church when we first got the news. Didn't believe it till we got home that evening and tuned in to the news.

I wasn't the music buff that I am now and though I loved Mike and his music, I had, at a best, a casual's knowledge of him but his death was nevertheless jarring. It felt like there was a change in the atmosphere.

I was in a hotel in London with my (now ex) boyfriend, the one who is a huge Prince fan. Prince was his, Michael Jackson was mine. We went down to a nearby pub where they had turned on Sky News and the atmosphere amongst (the majority) of people there was sombre, to say the least. Two old(ish) women were quietly crying in a corner. We stayed in the pub for a few hours watching the news updates, then we went back to the hotel where I had about 40-50 messages and missed calls from friends and family asking how I was taking the news. As if I had just lost a close friend or something. Which, in a weird way, I had.

A very unusual trip. Flew home the next day and found out that day that I was pregnant. I swear, that trip must have been cursed or something.

I was working and on MYSPACE of all things, both promoting the business and catching up with an ex gf from HS of all things.

The rumors started, then the talk of TMZ saying he's in a coma, (I heard from the ex gf who well, she'll prob not say we were an item so let's call her something else).... I was and still am adamant about not supporting TMZ unless it's something that I absolutely must know... (PRN)

So I didnt click over.

Drove to the corner store to pick something up to drink around that same time... and saw the TV Reports in this liquor store, it was still uncofirmed. THen the asshole old clerk (who owned the store) said something like "hehh heh probably smoking too much crack" or something like that...

and I got a bit vengeful inside.. like "this is racism in America"... people want it both ways with MJ, first he's a white weirdo who doesn't want to be black. But when something wrong happens, he's a black n****... who smokes crack."

I just got pissed and left. About 30 mins later it was confirmed.

Don't feel like talking about all the rest. For what it's worth, I had always admired the dude's music and committment (perceived or real)... he inspired so many

Today marks #10YearsWithoutMichaelJackson. Whether by misadventure, subterfuge or simply succumbing to the psychic wounds of the 2005 trial, one thing is clear: No dying tabloid or hit piece can nullify that legacy. MJ is impervious to cancellation.

I was at work and my boss (who is a huge fan) heard a rumour and suggested we go to the library to look it up. It was true. I remember it was a Thursday and I had Friday off, which was a good thing because I needed to grieve, man.

After work, I took a drive, and the weather was warm and humid. The radio here was playing his music, which is good because my iPod classic actually didn't have a tonne of MJ on it.

Still driving the same vehicle but it was newer and cleaner then! lol

Seems like it was just yesterday. I was coming home from shopping, driving, and I read it on TMZ.com via my facebook page. I turned on the radio and they were playing MJ's human nature song. I cried.

I'd left work and decided to do some running around and tuned into a local R&B station. They were discussing unconfirmed reports of Michael Jackson's death. After about 30 minutes, they confirmed his death. I remember it being a hot day and I believe I was wearing a white shirt and tie.

When I returned home, all of the major news stations were covering it. I took out some records and CD's and decided to play them loudly (sorry former neighbors).

The next day, I sent this song to my co-workers: https://www.youtube.com/w...JiQt7A4m7Q

I was alone with my mom, hearing in the news that Michael Jackson was in a coma. I didn't know who MJ was, I was too young for that and he wasn't listened to much in my family, I think my mom is more a prince type. Anyway, by the reaction of my mom to the news I felt that he must've been a very special person because she never reacted like that when I celebrity died. It really felt like the world stopped and I became a huge fan when I learned who he was. I'll definitely NEVER forget where I was and what I did.

The eldest child of pop icon Michael Jackson is a college graduate!

Prince Jackson, 22, whose real name is Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., graduated with cum laude honors from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles Saturday with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

"I met so many people and learned so much that the experience alone is worth it," he wrote alongside graduation pictures with his loved ones, including grandmother Katherine Jackson. "I wish I could thank everyone that helped me make it to the end but I can’t and unfortunately they’re not all pictured here."

Prince added: "Honestly I can’t tell you if all of it was worth it yet but I am proud of my degree as I believe it is a testament to my dedication and discipline."

You were too young to know who Michael Jackson was... There aren't many things in this world that make me feel old. Some of the things my daughter talks about, my brother explaining his job to me, that little exhale I make when I get up from a chair. None of those make me feel old like what you've just said there. sad
