This version is from the Riot sessions (early 1970), and was recorded for a Little Sister album

Ah.. I didn't know (or forgot) that it was also envisioned for the Little Sister album that never materialized. Have to ask the twins what other recordings they know about

sly was a major genius of modern music, never gets the credit he deserves, maybe if he'd died at 27 he would have.

Sly was a brilliant musician for sure. I think Sly and the Family Stones are remembered for burning , pissing away a music career. Back in the day people moved on to the other talented artist who were creating music. Next. (IMHO)

TD3, sounds like you are trolling. It's definitely not how I remember Sly Stone or the Family Stone. It's not how most people I know remember them. Although it is partly true that part of Sly's legacy is that drugs can have a very negative effect on a persons ability to function. But that part is almost completely overshadowed by the music.

Similarly, Larry Grahams religious believes and his 80's albums are completely overshadowed by his great 70's albums. That may be different in the US, where he seems to be mostly remembered for One In A Million You, a song that didn't chart at all here in Europe.
