I always felt her shows would benefit more from an intimate theater setting.

Let's see.

Madonna sells out Brooklyn and LA shows in an hour

Madonna's 'Madame X' tour...tern shows

Madonna’s “Madame X” tour sold out its Brooklyn and LA shows in just an hour on Monday morning, we hear — and the star will add more dates at BAM and The Wiltern, sources said.

The “Like A Prayer” icon announced Monday that her intimate “Madame X” tour will kick off with seven dates at the venerable BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, with subsequent stops at LA’s storied The Wiltern as well as theaters in Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, Boston and Philadelphia.

Super producer and DJ Diplo helped announce the tour in a tongue-in-cheek video with Madonna — in which he shows up in a cowboy outfit to share margaritas with the singer.

“I’m going on a special tour,” Madonna explains. “Are you doing stadiums?” Diplo asks. “Arenas? Coliseums?” The Material Girl says instead, “I’m going on a theater tour … I want to have an intimate experience with my fans.” She figures, “After I do this for a while people will start hiring me to do parties, bar mitzvahs, weddings.”

The tour sold out five dates at BAM and five at The Wiltern. It will move to Lisbon, London and Paris next year.

See the updated list of confirmed tour dates below. The Madame X Tour will also visit Las Vegas, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, Lisbon, London and Paris, with dates announced in the future.

I like the idea of a different sort of show in a small venue ... though admittedly I'll miss dancing with Madonna and my fellow fans on the arena floor, the best part of any M tour.

Looks like the cost of tickets has already upset a large number of fans though. She's never been the cheapest but these prices are ultra exclusive. Its M's call obviously, but it does rather fly in the face of her political stance.

^^yeah,I agree....the ticket prices are outrageous eek I get that this a "special",intimate tour but $760 for a concert ticket is beyond absurd.

Tickets will be scaled between $60.00 – $760.00 (plus applicable service fees).

Not all the tickets are $760, they are in all price ranges. They are no bad seats unlike an arena or stadium because these venues hold 2000 people. The lower price ranges are no higher than her previous tours and you will be much closer.

What political stance do the prices contradict? She never said she was a socialist. She mostly talks about ending discrimination against racial minorities, LGBT people and women. What do the prices of her tickets have to do with that?

The prices aren’t set solely by her. Live Nation and promoters need to make $ from this tour also. If they set the close seats lower they wouldn’t make money because these are small venues.

Touring artists aren’t charities.

I agree with both of you in principle. However, I think some acts realize that so many tickets gets sold on the secondary market for astronomical prices. this is what they will be selling on the secondary market, so they might as well be asking for higher prices rather than scalpers buying them and selling than for more. I think it would be more upsetting if she had all the tickets going for the upper range. I recently was looking for Queen tickets On Stubhub, and even in the nosebleed sections of huge arenas tickets were often going for more than $300. And this was with Adam Lambert!!!

Agreed. But still, the major chunk of the money goes to the artist/price is set by what the artist eventually gets and it's the artist's name on the ticket, so don't get in here blaming the promoter. The artist has the final say.

I don't know. I think the lottery system is kinda cool. Stressfree. You state what you want to pay and then you'll see what you get/if you get something. Since the places are small, most seats should be good. In the lower/affordable price ranges it doesn't really matter anyway, they are all close together. But then again, I don't really care too much if I don't get a ticket. If I can get a 100 $ ticket somewhere close to where I live, then yay, I'm going, if not, it's okay too. Would it be Janet I probably wouldn't be so relaxed. Here is is hoping they add more cities, one I can drive to and don't have to fly, as I'm not willing to do that.

Madonna Ticket Prices Are High, But That Shouldn't Be a Surprise

5/8/2019 by Taylor Mims

Image result for madonna madame x tour

Madonna's intimate Madame X theater tour has ticket prices ranging from $53 to $2,000.

Madonna fans were rumbling on social media this week over the high ticket prices for the “Medellín” singer’s Madame X tour kicking off in September. Ticket prices for her theater dates ranged from just over $50 to get in the door and reached $750 for orchestra seats, tapping out at $1,7500 to $2,000 for VIP seats/experiences.

The Queen of Pop’s latest installment of tour dates are in support of her upcoming album, also called Madame X, due out June 14 on Interscope Records. The multi-city tour brings the global superstar to some of the smallest venues she has played in decades, launching with 12 nights at the 2,100-capacity BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in New York then moving to the 3,600-seat Chicago Theatre followed by a nine-night stand at the roughly 2,000-capacity Wiltern theater in Los Angeles.

The theater shows are a departure from the grandeur that fans have experienced in the past. Madonna has been selling out arenas and stadiums since her 1987 Who’s That Girl tour, and the pop icon holds the record for highest-grossing tour for a female artist with her 2008-2009 Sticky & Sweet tour.

Unlike many of her male counterparts on the Top 10 Grossing Tours in Billboard Boxscore History chart, including The Rolling Stones, Coldplay and Guns N’ Roses, Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour was able to hit the $400 million mark with only 85 shows. It took AC/DCmore than 160 shows to hit $441 million on their Black Ice Tour.

According to Billboard Boxscore numbers, Madonna has managed to earn more per fan with a steady increase in ticket prices over the years. Between the 2006 Sticky & Sweet tour and the 2016 Rebel Heart tour, the average ticket price for a Madonna concert has risen from $114 to $162. Her average ticket price since 2006 has been greater than recent tours from top earn ers including Bruno Mars, U2, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran.

Stretching back to her 2001 Drowned tour, Madonna shows have had an entry fee of $45 (if not more), making the consistent $53.50 in-the-door ticket price for the intimate Madame X trek feel like less of a jump. For her 2019 tour, however, fans entering the buildings at the base price will be a lot closer to the music legend than those who paid $45 to see her at the 20,000-capacity Madison Square Garden, which is more than five times the size of even the largest venue announced for the Madame X tour.

Madonna’s new experimental residency tour follows more than a decade of success of artist residencies in Las Vegas, along with Bruce Springsteen’s lauded Broadway run. Launched in October of 2017, “Springsteen on Broadway” saw The Boss asking between $75 and $800 for the intimate experience at the 975-seat Walter Kerr Theatre in New York.

“Springsteen on Broadway” was originally scheduled to run for four months in the same location but was extended three times. Just 24 hours after announcing her intimate shows, Madonna also added dates to her New York and LA residencies. The new shows were added even before dates were announced for her promised mini-residencies at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston, The Met Philadelphia and at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre. The dates and quantity of those shows have yet to be announced, but tour producer Live Nation has stated that they will fall within 2019.

Madge appears to have taken notes from other high-grossing tours in the last few years, such as Jay-Z’s 4:44 trek and Taylor Swift’s impressive Reputation stadium run. Both tours brought in more revenue by increasing the price of premium seats, while allowing upper bowl spaces to remain on the lower end.

While Madonna’s lowest tickets have gone up slightly, her premium seats rose from $350 in the U.S. for her 2015-2016 Rebel Heart tour to $750 for the upcoming shows excluding VIP packages. Fans with plenty of disposable income can purchase front row seats for up to $2,000 in some markets.

Madonna has made a career out of pushing the envelope, but while her experimental touring residencies may seem controversial, they also appear to be astute business practices for a superstar who hasn’t left a seat unfilled in nearly 30 years.

Yeah. And fans who don't have that can go fuck themselves. Sad trend. What do I care if "upper bowl" seats remain affordable, but I can't get close anymore as those seats are not payable?? The people who just want to be at the event, but otherwise don't really care, get cheap tix and the ones that really care and want to be close get fleeced left and right.

When you look at what Prince charged over the years to make himself accessible to everyone ... £31.21 for any seat at the O2 in 2007, £10 for his Hit 'n' Run shows ... shows it can be done and you don't have to charge a fortune.

I would have opted for Philly. BAM the venue is small but not 2000 for a seat

I've heard Niki will "never happen" due to some romantic shenanigans at some point. Same with Stuart Price. Sad really as those two were such strong contributors.
