So Beyonce was just supposed to freeze her career entirely for P's passing? Sure, that would have been nice but she didn't HAVE to do anything. It's not like Lemonade even took much attention from Prince's death. People were still talking about him, he was featured on countless magazine covers, talked about in countless articles and was given tributes at every musical award show the year following his demise. 3 years later, I still see various public mentions of P (more than he was getting when alive) while seeing almost no mention of Lemonade unless searched for or it's in reference to Beyonce's most recent release. Funny how that works out. [Edited 5/9/19 4:37am]

yes One call to HBO she could have made to postpone it. Or at least add a disclosure at the end of the short film and added a dedication to the man that admired, mentored, & supported her.

Show some respect! Instead of posting a quoted post from Prince(r.i.p.) on instagram. Then barely two days later after his tragic transitioning releasing a short fim about "Becky with the good hair". rolleyes

So Prince, whom fought 4 his first record deal & got it, fought 4 a movie deal & got it, fought 4 freedom from his WB contract & got it, fought 4 his masters & got them.Gets a curable illness & says 2 himself ok, I'm done. "Life is a Box Of Chocolates"

She didn't have to postpone a damn thing. The world doesn't/didn't revolve around Prince.

Did Prince postpone anything when James Brown passed away? Michael Jackson went to James funeral. Is Beyoncé the only act in the world who had a TV special, concert, or album release when Prince died? I doubt that any of them stopped what they were doing because an entertainer died. It's also doubtful that the average Beyoncé fan listened to Prince anyway. So what would postponing something do? What would have HBO put in its place? HBO might be losing money.

I remember the day HITnRUN Phase Two hit the actual stores in the Compact Disc format, I bought Lemonade the exact same transaction. I think it also had an early digital release (iTunes or Tidal, whatever) but only came out on CD then. My spouse and I were driving to United States and enjoyed listening to them both. We definitely needed life to continue as best as we could.

Late that same day, my brother died. sad

Beyonce may not be your hero, but when we lost ours (Prince), we needed some music to soothe us.

Sorry you lost your brother... sad Glad you found some music that spoke to you during that time whether it is someone else's cup of tea or not. My father doesn't have much time left from stage four cancer and it was Tedeschi Trucks Band that got me through the grueling weeks of his radiation treatment...and still does.

I think I know one song by Taylor Swift.

Beyonce? She looked good in the third Austin Powers movie. Not sure if I've ever heard her sing.

Am I missing anything?

Honestly, to not have heard any Beyonce song since 2002 must have taken some serious effort. I mean, sure you're missing out on stuff but at this point why bother?

KEY WORD FEATURED so her last top 5 was pre lemonade era...

Are we only talking about singles or albums as well? Because Lemonade hit #1 and I'm sure this live album is at #1 now or hit #1 and went down. [Edited 5/8/19 8:29am]

HITS aka SINGLES not LPs

HOMECOMIING hit #4 TOP 200 #2 R&B and Falling

Interesting.

Pretty much anyone with a shred of name value can release anything and hit #1 this day and age. However, Bey is on that downhill run of commercial success in her career and has been (ironically) since Lemonade. It happens to every artist and she's not immune to it. Plus the girl is pushing 40; she'll be 38 this year.

How much did the album sell and what was occupying the top 3 slots that kept her from rising higher?

Bey is a brand as much as an act these days, so the question of whether she has charted singles recently is academic. She's a global superstar and has consistently been among the industry's highest earners for years.

It's like the Rolling Stones or Paul McCartney hasn't had a big hit single since the 1980s (in the USA), yet still have high grossing tours today. Paul sort of had a hit in recent years, but it was really because of Rihanna & Kanye West that the song got Top 40 airplay. The Beatles also continue to sell albums, merchandise, and a Cirque show and they haven't been an active group since 1970. Elton John has a new biopic coming out soon and when was the last time he had a new song played on Top 40.

Beyonce albums still keep going platinum (even without radio hits), so it's not like Paul McCartney or Elton John at all.

Sure it is. Destiny's Child's 1st single came out in 1997, which is 22 years ago. The Beatles 1st single came out in 1962 and the Rolling Stones in 1963. 22 years after that would be around 1984. So that would be Paul's album Pipes Of Peace and the Stones Undercover. With Elton John, that would be 1991. His album around that time (The One) came out in 1992 and it sold well in the USA. Pipes Of Peace had a #1 hit single (Say Say Say) and Undercover had 2 popular MTV videos Undercover Of The Night (the song made the Top 10) & Too Much Blood.

2019 is 57 years after 1962 and Beyonce is not that old, only 37.
