I love their songs. They kind of remind me of a slightly more melodic Ladytron.

But, all their songs are starting to sound the same to me.

Any Tegan & Sarah fans?

Despite my resistance to how pop Heartthrob was, it was my first taste of Tegan and Sara and I grew to love it. I got their subsequent release Love You to Death and listened to a couple of their previous ones but love didn't strike again. I agree with you that their songs do tend to sound similar.

They played Canada Day locally two years ago! Actually, the set was great

So Jealous is one of my top ten albums of the 00s. I didn't like the subsequent release, The Con as much and stopped following them after that.

Edit: I had no idea their sound had evolved to the point where they are now comparable to the very electronic Ladytron.

Lovely sisters from my old town, Calgary.

About six years ago, they reached that point of inevitability for indie-cred artists who are talented songwriters (that's a minority, btw) when they saw an opportunity to make some money and go a bit "pop"... which they did, to considerable success (relative to where they started).

To clarify, I don't hold that against them. I think they did the right thing, and after years of proving themselves with less commercial material.

The thing is, once an 'indie' artist kind of goes pop and acquires teen fans, there's not really any going back to being an indie artist with cred anymore. Which is fine.

Those songs have integrity though, and they actually play them live. It's not like they have a dance troup and a lipsync track.
