Madonnas ironic pay off

She pulls a video which is the shocker. Not making a shocking possibly ofdfensive video..bu pulling it. She did this with Justify My Love but that was pulled because of "supposed" offensive or racy sexual elements in the video. The content was the controversy. Now the controversy is that she of all people pulled the vid ( as one would think so there would be no controversy). But irony of it all is that her pulling it is the controversy. What a ___ move. Either way she wins. Not saying that the video or non video will help sales or whatever, but its a helluva way to advertise. A shocking video is no longer shocking coming from her after all these years. Now she herself censoring etc. a video is. Trip.

well, she is a genius at marketing. I wonder though, how many of her decisions are really pr and how much is just the public applying a hindsight bias. No doubt we get them mixed up all the time. Either way, this is going to sell some CDs...plus it's pretty cool that instead of releasing a video she's been making the rounds talking about the video that wasn't released...hmmm.

I love the controversy that usually surrounds a new Madonna project. It's exciting.Once again,Madonna finds herself generating press and speculation over yet another provocative video.People will view this as just another publicity stunt, but hey,it's not HER fault that people trip off everthing she says and does...lol..

Check out this first paragraph from the San Francisco Chronicle's review of her new CD...

"Madonna has ceded her cutting edge popularity to newer stars, but she still knows how to ride a cultural wave. Her latest album,'American Life',in stores today, has made her controversial for the first time in years---not because of anything she's done, but because of what she's decided not to do.After causing a furor with the war-themed video for the album's title track, she promptly caused more controversy by pulling the video when the war in Iraq made it too topical for comfort. The hoopla over the video has given 'American Life' a subversive mystique".

What would pop music be without the controversial Madonna?

Hey Chris, this might be old news but I was surfing the web looking for Madonna reviews, and I came across a news item about Gwen Stefani. She said that she is doing a solo album and that she's taking a break from No Doubt. She's also looking at movie scripts.Did you know all this?

i dunno hopefully not a full on pop/r&b album...im sure she'll have a few unknowns mixed in with the usual suspects.. I.E. -the neptunes,dr dre, etc..." like no doubt does it

heres something from nodoubt.com

After all that I figured I would just chill in London with my husband but interesting things keep popping up. I have been working super hard on my L.A.M.B. clothing line. I think you will start to hear more about it and see it soon. It has been a total blast and a lot of work but it has also been a real cool creative outlet. I have also looked at some scripts and, although I really haven't made a decision yet, if the right part were to come along I think I would try working in film. I have always had a real love for making videos and the filmmaking No Doubt did. Who knows? I think it might be another challenging place to express myself creatively.

I have also been collaborating on some tracks on my own with different people. I am not quite sure if it will become a full-blown solo project, singles for a soundtrack or just songs (like with Moby and Eve). I am just kind of letting it take me where it takes me and see what happens. It is all part of a process for me, sort of an extension of the challenge No Doubt gave ourselves on "Rock Steady." I want to explore all of this during the No Doubt hiatus. We'll see where it takes me!

another cool bit

GWEN: I go online to our fans a lot, because I'm stuck in my hotel room a lot. They never believe it's me. And it pisses me off so bad, and like, I had to say the F-word to this girl because she was so rude to me. And I'm like, "Why do I have to take this from these kids?" It's weird when a 15-year-old kid is saying you're selling out. We sold 16 million records and had the biggest song in the world at one point--is that selling out? That just happened. And now I think that people are ignorant--that they don't know what dancehall is on this record is really frustrating. I think that we just have to make clear to people that No Doubt started off because we found this Jamaican music called ska, and ska is this Jamaican music...ska, reggae, dancehall

eheh damn kids

Rhondab

back to Madonna...mommyhood does some strange things to you. Madonna censoring herself just comes from a different perceptive. The same with Eddie Murphy now doing more kid friendly movies...he's a dad of five kids.
