good list and all albums are essential must-haves

though not in my wildest dreams I would consider Earth Wind & Fire I Am a funk album eek

EWF is my all time fave band, and they have lots of funk DNA within their discography, but their scope is soooooo much bigger than just funk, especially on that album

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Their list and I'm fine with it. Personally, I'd have chosen different selections from James Brown, Isleys, P-Funk, and Rick James. Not sure I'd include Commodores or EWF over Zapp, Graham Central Station, or Cameo, but their's isn't a bad list.

hmmm well yeah, they cover alot of ground on that album but funk is the dominant style.Songs like "Serpentine Fire" and "Jupiter" are funk masterpieces but I get your point.

I'm not sure it's the top 10 best, but everyone is a solid record, and a good starter for someone wanting to stretch their funk roots a bit more. It is weird that Zapp, Brass Connection, Graham Central Station, Cameo, The GAP Band, or SOS Band isn't on the list - but again, it's a 10-album starter.

you are mixing it up, those songs are on All'n'All and not on I Am

I Am brings Funk, Rock, Soul and Pop to the table, and all genres maybe more balanced than on any other of their albums

If I had to choose an album that to me embodies the greatest funk statement I will say James' The Payback. To drop the needle on that in it's entirety just grooves me like non other. Followed closely by The Mothership Connection.
