I don't think this is really a new direction. I reckon this is actually most likely an out take from 24k magic. Imagine it with just Bruno's vocals and it would fit perfectly.

Agreed.

I like the song, it is not earth shattering innovative, but it is certainly catchy and I love the the way it is produced.

possible. remove the contemporary casio shit sound with 80s production and sounds, and it would fit well on some early DeBarge album or something like that

Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

OmG. That's what I want from Bruno Mars. A remix of Please Me, or remake of Sex Me, or whatever. He's a grown man in my mind now. lol

What?

Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles Join Strippers Pic 'Hustlers'
by Etan Vlessing The Hollywood Reporter

https://pmcdeadline2.files.wordpress.com/2019/03/constance-wu-jennifer-lopez-cardi-b-lili-reinhart-keke-palmer-julia-stiles.jpg?w=446&h=299&crop=1
Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer and Julia Stiles have joined the stripper story Hustlers from STX Entertainment.

They board the adaptation of the New York magazine article "Hustlers at Scores," about former strip club employees who devised a scheme to steal tens of thousands of dollars from their wealthy Wall Street clients, that already has Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez in the lineup.

Lorene Scafaria is directing the film and also wrote the script based on the 2015 piece by Jessica Pressler. The cameras will start rolling on Hustlers on Friday in New York City.

Scafaria’s script takes place in the late 2000s in New York City in the wake of the financial crisis and explores the toll it took on the livelihood of the dancers who relied on Wall Street clientele. “We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast,” Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms, said in a statement.

STXfilms is producing Hustlers alongside Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum for Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Kate Vorhoff and Catherine Hagedorn are overseeing the film’s production for the studio. STXinternational is handling international distribution and distributing directly in the U.K. and Ireland.

Cardi B is repped by CAA. Reinhart is reppped by UTA and Anonymous Content. Palmer is repped by 3 Arts and UTA. Stiles is repped by Untitled Entertainment and The Gersh Agency.

Cardi B is the reason why Atlantic Records hasn't released Missy Elliot's(whom I love) new project. They're putting ALL their money into her.

Well, a newer act is more likely to get radio airplay than an older one. So of course they're going to spend more to promote Cardi. Top 40 radio has always had an age limit, but it's more so now and the cutoff is probably younger. A song that came out 6 months ago is considered old with a lot of today's audience, there's generally less shelf life. Also, hip hop veterans don't get the same amount of respect like old rockers. There's not many rap artists, solo or groups, that even have 10 albums out. Run DMC doesn't, neither does OutKast. Probably one of the few who released a lot of albums is K-Rino. A few years ago he released 7 CDs at one time, not just 2 like Bruce Springsteen in the 1990s. But K-Rino is underground, not mainstream known.

I genuinely enjoyed (and enjoy) Bruno Mars' "Finesse (Remix)" featuring Cardi B. But she was so new I don't think anyone heard of her when he was making 24K Magic.

I think this is capitalizing off of "Finesse (Remix)". But isn't Bruno Mars known for reinvention? Time for a different sound, I think!

I am surprised more new artists didn't try on the New Jack Swing sound after Bruno brought it back. The swing function alone is more fun than the trap sound this decade has been stuck in.

Not everybody can do that sound justice.

It must be fun to fans of it or trap wouldn't have remained popular for a decade. The general public would have lost interest in it quickly like with grunge, glam metal, new wave, & New Jack Swing itself.

shrug Must be!

I am wondering if Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus is one of trap's last gasps? smile
