I thought it was great, but as a long-time Sam Cooke fan, I could have watched a much longer version! I think the filmmakers worked mainly to make their points about his demise rather than to provide a more general biography. Fair enough--it does seem to be giving more people an idea of the breadth of his talent and activism. Despite my fandom, there were things even I didn't know.

Finally got a chance to watch this. It was good in some regards and a little to much in others.

Basically what I took away was that the Mob killed him because he wouldn't give up money from his record label. Then they also kind of said that the FBI killed him because of his association with the Muslim Brotherhood and his Civil Rights work.

The moral of the story is that he was killed and the story was bullshit.

Sam was more than just a recording artist, he had vision, talent and drive to fight the injustice he saw every day. I love his music even more after watching this.
