Prince & Tina Turner I have just completed Tina Turner's 'My Love Story' auto-b and attended the Tina Turner musical in London. the book was a great read and the musical was AMAZING - a must see for any fan.
I was always intrigued if Tina and Prince were acquainted and if any interesting stories on them. I know Tina has covered 2 Prince songs and Prince has sung Proud Mary on occasion, I also recall Prince attended a Tina (24/7) show in USA. That said, I believe Tina did not comment on Prince’s transition and it is not mentioned in the book, though of course she does touch on her dear friend David Bowie. Thanks in advance. I have been meaning to post this thread for 2+ years 😊

(according to princevault.com) Prince played guitar on this song from 2007 - from Herbie Hancock's tribute album to Joni Mitchell. It has two guitar tracks: one with wah-wah that plays right at the beginning and sporadically throughout the song, and another clean and very discreet rhythmnic one, guess which one he plays. Apparently, it was only revealed that it was Prince playing in it after he passed away, and he didn't meet up with Tina while recording it, as she did her vocals in Switzerland, where she lives. I suppose that's all there is.

I doubt if there was any personal association with Prince and Tina. We all know once she left Ike, Tina distanced herself from most other black american singers. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

You're welcome Check out the rest of the album, if you want. It's one of the most beautiful things out there. [Edited 1/22/19 19:31pm]

Prince and Tina Turner would have been an awesome collaboration. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

In other words Tina would take that Ike training to kick Prince's ass. Now she's kicking other Goats off mountains in Switzerland instead.

Prince allowed this because it was Tina Turner.

i belive he was a major fan of the very gifted/troubled ike turner and actually, i always thought some of his singing was like tinas, that could have just been from a common culture but i always heard tina's style in certain songs.

prince was doing the crossover thing in that era and he also was the cutting edge, everyone was influenced. as stated, she did some covers of his. she certainly wanted nothing to do with her roots after ike, she even called rand b 'that dreadful music" inspite of still singing it. I never liked the pretentiousness but good god was she a performer, one of the few female performers who could match male aggression onstage, a legend. Her latest interviews show a really mellowed, humble woman. Arsenio Hall, who opened for her said she was "not a nice woman" and theorized that Ike probably kicked her ass so hard that she'd take it out on any black man.
