Ono! I knew there were drugs, and likely mismanagement, as key people moved on from the juggernaut with their own solo careers, but heartbreaking--I could not have guessed!

Hahaha I take it you've received your copy. Technically speaking that footage is from spring 1981. Which is even more scan'lous. It was about that time Tipper Gore got started with that whole parental stickers album censorship. There is a video of the DC gig on that tour floating around for decades now. However, it's edited. Never have I seen the excerpts from that gig they used in this doc. There is a brief snippet of Bootsy's set from the show too. Where oh where is the rest of it! I know fans who boycotted the doc. They refuse to watch it. My opinion is anyone seriously into The Funks needs to sit down and watch this. I'm a Cancer sign, a little more sensitive than most. This will hit different people in different ways. It gets a lot more personal than any of the previous funkumentaries. It's a heartbreaker for sure, I damn near broke down crying myself listening to Debbie's story. Audio is crap on my disc but still essential viewing. [Edited 1/26/19 21:18pm]

This is all such BS whining from former p-funk members. There is only one person who has kept the circus going for over 50 years and that is George Clinton. The "original Parliaments" were still doing Temptations rip-off dance steps when George Clinton had already moved on with the times: [Edited 1/27/19 6:16am]

the problem is that things were so chaotic and so unorganized in the P-Funk camp. There should have been real contracts/paperwork and everything should have been done by the book. It's absurd that George was "paying" these people with drugs What's even more ridiculous is that,in 1983,George was broke and signed away the publishing rights to all those classic P-Funk jams.Mind you, this was the same year that "Atomic Dog" became one of the biggest GC hits ever! Later, when many of those songs were sampled by rappers, the writers didn't get a cent.

Bernie is featured on both "Computer Games" & "Uncle Jam Wants You"...."Computer Games" was his last featured. From "Up For The Downstroke" to "Trombipulation", Bootsy was featured as one of the sole songwriters/performers

I might stand corrected and may have to check the LP but I think Bernie is listed as being on You Shoudnt Nuf Bit Fish as well. I know he was in the road band for that brief tour into 1984. GC has always told the story of how Atomic Dog came together. But here you get to hear more detail from Chong. I’ve never seen it actually re-enacted like they did it here either. Actually having to prop him up and hold him steady at the mic, [Edited 1/27/19 15:44pm]

YOU CAN LEAVE THE ROOF ON THIS SUCKER!!! I watched it last night and want my $4.99 and 55 minutes back- no George, no Bootsy, no Sly, some interesting (but not enough) early promo footage, and lots of revisionist history. Sorry, but you can't fit the story of the Funk Mob into 55 minutes...

George was asked to participate and he agreed....but then he backed out at the last minute

that's no secret is it? they got fucked, Bernie worrell moved to my town a few years before his death, his girlfriend or wife, whichever it was, hated GC, didn't even like him posting a memorial on his FB.

ya, it wsn't long after Prince died actually. I saw him live about five years ago, stood right next to him and wanted an autograph but didn't push.

Yeah, she has been very vocal about her feelings about George. She says that, before he died,Bernie contacted George asking for "some of the money that you owe me" so that he could pay his medical bills, but George never responded those kind of stories are heartbreaking

ya, unless he just didn't have it to give he's a piece of shit for that. they all got ripped off though. Artists are notoriously bad about money, about negotiation about communication. And often, they just don't care until they do.

By now,I think it's time for a P Funk biopic. There's a rich story there that needs to make it to the big screen.

He had all these law suits going on trying to get his rights back and then lawyers started sueing him for unpaid legal bills. It looks like his autobiography, constant touring and other deals have put his finances in order in recent years. I think the inclusion of Insurance Man in Medicaid Fraud Dog is part of GC's attempts to make up.

George Clinton Announces Final Tour With Parliament-FunkadelicGeorge Clinton Announces ...Funkadelic“Even though I feel like I’m just getting started, the reality is the group needs to go ahead and keep it going,” the godfather of funk said.Last year, George Clinton said that he would retire from touring in 2019 but not before doing a final “One Nation Under a Groove” tour with Parliament-Funkadelic. Now, Clinton has announced that tour. The “One Nation Under a Groove Tour” will begin on May 30 and end in August. Clinton revealed the tour dates in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I would love to keep on doing this but I’ll be 78 in a few more months,” Clinton said. “Even though I feel like I’m just getting started, the reality is the group needs to go ahead and keep it going. We’ve got a new vibe in the band, and they’ve been carrying it for the last three years. I’ve been up there representing for people, but they’ve actually been turning the place out. And we’ve been selling out for the last five years, every night.” The tour will feature openers Zapp, Fishbone, Dumpstaphunk, and Miss Velvet & The Blue Wolf. On February, Clinton and the rest of Parliament-Funkadelic will serve as the openers for the Red Hot Chili Peppers during their tour in Australia.
