It takes money and resources to promote acts, go on tours, make that all work and profitable. GC made business mistakes, got screwed by labels and in some cases - Zapp... - musicians he worked with.

All these ex-members live(d) off the p-funk legacy, even when they had very little to do with it. When the "original Parliaments" launched their version of Funkadelic around 1980s, they tried to copy styles and concepts of mid-1970s Parliament that they did not invent (see below). Later they would do songs live that were created long after they left George Clinton's band.

You will hear much less complaining from Bootsy Collins. He does have his grudges against GC, but he built his own career and has acknowledged how hard it was on him to have to run his own band after Parliament, the pressures and responsibilities that come with it.

George Clinton wasn't the only drug addict in the band and you cannot solely blame him for getting everybody else hooked. Bootsy had his mid-1980s meltdown before he got clean. The entire music industry in the late 1970 and 80s was coked up.

GC got himself sorted out in the last ten years, in his seventies, and has revitalized p-funk. All the former members can reap the rewards in one way or another.

The "original Parliaments" were still doing Temptations rip-off dance steps when George Clinton had already moved on with the times:

the problem is that things were so chaotic and so unorganized in the P-Funk camp.There should have been real contracts/paperwork and everything should have been done by the book.It's absurd that George was "paying" these people with drugs What's even more ridiculous is that,in 1983,George was broke and signed away the publishing rights to all those classic P-Funk jams.Mind you,this was the same year that "Atomic Dog" became one of the biggest GC hits ever! Later,when many of those songs were sampled by rappers,the writers didn't get a cent.

Bernie is featured on both "Computer Games" & "Uncle Jam Wants You"...."Computer Games" was his last featured. From "Up For The Downstroke" to "Trombipulation", Bootsy was featured as one of the sole songwriters/performers

ya, unless he just didn't have it to give he's a piece of shit for that. they all got ripped off though. Artists are notoriously bad about money, about negotiation about communication. And often, they just don't care until they do.

“Even though I feel like I’m just getting started, the reality is the group needs to go ahead and keep it going,” the godfather of funk said.

Last year, George Clinton said that he would retire from touring in 2019 but not before doing a final “One Nation Under a Groove” tour with Parliament-Funkadelic. Now, Clinton has announced that tour.

The “One Nation Under a Groove Tour” will begin on May 30 and end in August. Clinton revealed the tour dates in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“I would love to keep on doing this but I’ll be 78 in a few more months,” Clinton said. “Even though I feel like I’m just getting started, the reality is the group needs to go ahead and keep it going. We’ve got a new vibe in the band, and they’ve been carrying it for the last three years. I’ve been up there representing for people, but they’ve actually been turning the place out. And we’ve been selling out for the last five years, every night.”

The tour will feature openers Zapp, Fishbone, Dumpstaphunk, and Miss Velvet & The Blue Wolf. On February, Clinton and the rest of Parliament-Funkadelic will serve as the openers for the Red Hot Chili Peppers during their tour in Australia.
