Ha, he's not the only one who does though, if that's what you think, so don't be too hard on the man.

After a while...he's actually not that bad...

I happen to like 50 Cent. If you think he sucks, then what does that make his mentors Dre and Eminem?

You must hate rap period, because 50 cent happens to be the hottest rapper now.

Right, he isn't my favourite but to call him out individually when he's dropped a hot track with a hot beat and a quite good follow up single on the way says you just don't really like hip-hop.

Some artists 'on top' will be disliked or 'hated'...just look at J.Lo...sometimes they just have this love/hate relationship with people that says a little something about them, and the media also...

J-Lo's obviously poor though, even when considered only in the arena of mainstream pop. 50 Cent isn't close to being one of the worst rappers. Everybpody is jacking his comeback single, even Beyonce using the beat... Dre produced the goods.

Hmmm. don't know if J.Lo is that 'poor' though, because the so many pop icons before her would have to be considered also. I mean they aired her video on broadcast news just as they did to Madonna, and who else?

VH1 yesterday, when I was watching her interview, had little quotes saying that she helped J.Lo to go in the same career direction, as she also did with Mariah Carey...I wonder if she forced them to say that...maybe not, because it's true anyway...

But 'In da Club', you've got to hear the merengue version, it sounds good, (haha)...

I don't like 50 Cent, either.Like most commercial rappers these days,he is over-exposed,over-hyped and over-played.There is very little variety in the hip-hop world these days.I mean,is there really any difference between 50 Cent,Fabulous,Ja Rule and Nelly? They all have the same look, same point of view, same thugged-out mentality, etc. It gets really boring after awhile.

I would have to say that comment is BULLSHIT (respectfully lol ) I'm part of hip hops first generation. I cut me teeth on the shit. I was with it before it was mainstream. I was spinning hip hop cuts at clubs and getting dirty looks for 50% of the crowd. So don't tell me I hate hip hop because I don't dig 50. 50 is like the poster child for what pisses me off most about what they have done to hip hop. Because of marketing cats like him, most folks don't even know the real meaning of hip hop and what it was all about. On top of that his flow ain't shit. And before you someone comes with I hate any new rapper bs, let me say I dig Nelly & Outkast as well as a few others. While I don't buy near as much hip hop as I used to, I don't buy as much R&B either. That's more a case of the lack of quality product out there than it is a lack of love for the music. So y'all need to put that "hater" card back in the deck. It just doesn't play in this argument.

50 Cent is pretty hot on the charts now (not that it really depicts any remnants of of musicianship these days), but he's not the best out there. I'll give him a soul clap though for his output.

I have to agree with 916, as well as DavidEye and Moonbeam. 50 Cent is just another MC. As a matter of fact, he couldn't hang with some of the best in the genre right now, much less the pre-Biggie/Tupac era.

True there are worse out there but 50 is top dog right now. Thats makes him fair game. If you gonna let them tout you as the "man" you damn sure better be able to own up to it. And sorry being shot and selling crack isn't enough.

I totally agree with you Essence. 50 cent is not the worsest rapper at all. As a matter of fact, he personifies what a true rapper's legendary status supposed to evoke - Really from the streets, been shot, hustled, and lived to tell about it.

he he he...50 cent says he lies about some stuff too, and he's not the only rapper whose experienced these things. A lot of them come from the hood, but when they hit it big, they escape from it, and still rap about it like Puffy...Biggie was a hustler, so was Jay-Z, Tupac, and Nas, was another one among many...and even so, as much as they say they be 'livin' it up', they're still out on the margin...

I'm sure 50 cent throws in a few lies here and there...he's got to...because unfortunately, it's what sells...

I mean if less than half of what they rapped about was all true, they'd all be in jail...it's all part of the game...even if what 50 cent is doing, saying he's 'true gangsta' or whatever, what he may have over the other rappers that makes him more appealing is that he’s saying he's more real, amongst the other 'fake gangsta' rappers, which they are many imposters, even if some of the things he says may or may not be 'true' as compared to some of the other rappers…

Now THAT's completely untrue. Chuck D, LL, Run-DMC, Common, Mos Def, Talib, De La, The Roots . . . hell, frickin' ICE CUBE and DRE for that matter weren't hustlers prior to rhyming. To think that being shot makes you a great MC is dangerously misguided. Biggie and Tupac would beg to differ.

We need to stop buying into this "Thug Life" mentality. It's a trap. When you claim it on wax, the streets are gonna make you live up to it. Biggie was a hustler, but he didn't want to live that way -- that's why he became a rapper. 2Pac started out as a revolutionary street poet, but got caught up in the "Thug Life" motif and tried to live up to the image he created for himself. Arguably the greatest MCs of their generation paid the ultimate price. Snoop nearly did last week.

Sure, knowing the streets is a plus for an artist. But I'd rather listen to Talib decry it than 50 Cent celebrate it.

I'm not a 50 Cent cheerleader (by any means), but whoever's providing the production on his singles has the bangin' beats. The beat to "21 Questions" is sexy. I like that little guitar loop.

I cant stand the image of 50 cent , eminem or dre, the way they work, however most of the time their finished product is quite good ,but how much of thats raw talent on their part or comes from other workers at the record comp i dunno..

certainly there is an absolute wealth of excellent stuff unsigned /signed 2 small labels , including much more cerebral / original and bangin stuff..

ohh and in response to "As a matter of fact, he personifies what a true rapper's legendary status supposed to evoke - Really from the streets, been shot, hustled, and lived to tell about it."

get lost.. who cares about stereotypes, 2 me a legendary rapper draws raps from inside themself, not deriving from other works/images of what a rapper should be..
