Chaka Khan will release a new album Hello Happiness next month.

The soul legend’s 12th studio album is her first since 2007’s Funk This is released on new label Diary Records (in conjunction with Island Records), the new label formed producer Switch with artist/songwriter Sara Ruba Taylor. The album features last year’s excellent single ‘Like Sugar’ and the equally great title track has just been made available.

Hello Happiness will be issued on 15 February and there is an ‘indies-only’ exclusive orange vinyl edition (i.e. not on Amazon) that you can order via the SDE shop.

The vinyl comes with alternative cover art, a 24″ x 36″ poster and a download card. There is a CD edition also.

She was in the Rose Parade on New Year's day, and sang a medley of songs. She looked good.

I heard the sample used in Like Sugar this morning.

Chaka recently did the theme song for the Quincy Jones documentary....a cool,retro jam called "Keep Reaching".I'm surprised that she's not including it on her album.It's a great track.

Well, the album is available for pre-order on amazon so maybe it actually will happen this time. Although I'm curious to know why USA Today stated a few days ago that the album would be released at the end of 2019?

I'm guessing that maybe this is like an old school funk/R&B album where the songs are very lengthy.The vinyl has only three songs on Side One....maybe each track is 8 minutes or longer?

At this point, I think we are lucky to get 7 tracks out of her after all of the empty promises over the last few years. She said when she agreed to record with these folks, she walked into the studio with no expectations but ended up pleased with the results. Something tells me that this was probably never intended as a full length album in the traditional sense.

the first single "Like Sugar",which got alot of attention when it was released last summer
