interestingly,Rick released a movie in 1984....a few months before Purple Rain came out.
His movie,Hard To Hold was a total flop, while Purple Rain was a massive success.
That was strange to me,since Rick actually had some acting experience (he was on the soap "General Hospital" for awhile).

'De vogeltjesdans', De Electronica's (Dutch version of 'The Chicken Dance'/'Birdie Song') 7. 'Dancing in the Dark', Bruce Springsteen 6. 'Eternal Flame', The Bangles 5. 'We Are The World', USA For Africa 4. 'I Just Called To Say I Love You', Stevie Wonder 3. 'How 'Bout Us?', Champaign 2. 'Nikita', Elton John 1. '(I've Had) The Time of My Life', Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes . The absence of MJ was surprising to me, even more surprising to learn that apparently his highest charting single on the list is 'One Day In Your Life', at #107 (!). 'Smooth Criminal' is #116, 'Beat It' #125, I Just Can't Stop Loving You' #163, and 'Billy Jean' #234. [Edited 12/30/18 8:10am] It’s interesting how much different this chart is from the US chart
