Janelle Monae concert on TV this week Friday on PBS's Austin City Limits, Janelle Monae will be performing. In most markets, it airs 11pm ET, but check your local PBS station for times on November 17, 2018. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I'll check this out... Still wish Janelle had followed the direction she was going with Archandroid--really dig that album. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

A footnote that may be of interest is that I took my son to see Janelle Monae, Bruno Mars, and Mayer Hawthorne when they went on tour together... It was at a local venue and the tickets were only $35. That's before Bruno blew up as big as he is now... I went because I wanted to see Janelle Monae. The best part of the concert, for me, was Mayer Hawthorne simply because the venue hadn't turned up the volume so loud and it wasn't filled yet. By the time Janelle came on the accoustics were so loud and wonky that I couldn't hear her vocals unless it was a more quiet song, which was a shame. I remember her painting a picture on stage and doing her James Brown dance moves at the time. Then Bruno came on and the place was full of teens screaming and hollering with their wincing parents in tow... LOL I stuffed kleenex in my ears so I wouldn't go deaf... I had to ask two teen girls to stop yelling so loud so I could actually hear Bruno singing. LOL I quite liked him, especially during the accoustic guitar section (when I could actually hear and understand his lyrics) and thought he was talented but I thought he needed to move past the "teen dream" image and do something more substantial with his music.... Just watching clips of MMF and Pynk there. Nice intro and outro to the first, though the new material doesn't seem to be the most exciting live. "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

Mayer Hawthorne is great anyway and one of the nicest, most genuine guys in the industry. I never knew he toured with both Janelle Monae and Bruno Mars. That's interesting. Must have been a great show. (Apart from Bruno Mars)

She got the album of the year nomination at the Grammys for Dirty Computer! The album is a very good pop project but Archandroid was magical imo. It deserved a Grammy.

Agree. So far Archandroid has been her best. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
