happy birthday, bobby! and, tour again soon. please.
i always loved the cure. when most people talk of "80's music", they talk about a lot of the commercial pop stuff, but to me 80's music is: the cure, siouxsie, the jam, and elvis costello. those were the artists, that made my 20's. i think the head on the door is one of the top 5 albums released in the 80's. it is always on my list of DID's. every song is a gem, not just good, but a gem. i know a lot of younger cure fans rave about disintegration (which is a truely great album), but nothing compares to the head on the door for me. one my great regrets is that i was over in the uk in 1987 and had tix for the kiss me, kiss me, kiss me tour at wembley, but had to return home to the states, and so missed the show. i am from atlanta, ga in the south, and they never played there until 1989, so i had never seen them at that point. luckily, i have had the oppotunity to see them on several occasions since then (1989, 1992, 1996, 2000 twice). they are a great live band. robert and simon have great chemistry. the coolest concert that i have seen was i atlanta in feb. 2000. they played a short promo tour for bloodflowers in very small clubs, prior to the big venue shows later that summer. i saw them at the roxy in atlanta, a club of maybe 1000-1500 people and was way up close at the front. the show was broadcast on the radio in atlanta, and so friends taped it while i was there and so i have a really good document of the show as well. ------------------------------------------------

I always thought the Cure were kind of a cheesy band, and Rob was not as talented as Morrissey... I always dug Bauhaus, Christian Death etc. for the gothic crowd, but now I can listen to Disintegration, Pornography etc. and see what everyone likes... They are a cool band. Happy birthday! Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

Morrissey is indeed a very talented singer and lyricist, but can he write music, play guitar, bass, and keys?
No. Happy Birthday Bob! You've still got the greatest band ever!
