Give it up for Beatles 50th Anniversary of White Album

Great big reissue box come out. I usually pass on these remasters but the occasion did inspire me to cue up the original over the weekend only to be reminded of why I always considered this to be their greatest work.

We're talking about The Beatles.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yeah y'all what a satisfying listen. I had forgotten about some of these tracks. They wrote a lot of it while held up at the Maharishi's and that clarity is reflected in the music.

The Beatles' catalogue is full of great songs... But, I agree with you that this one was their best (although Sgt. Pepper is a fave). Reminds me I was on a real Beatles' kick a couple of years ago after attending their world-travelling museum exhibit while I was visiting my son. I haven't listened to this one in years...think I'll do it this weekend. You couldn't grow up in the sixties and seventies without hearing the Beatles...

Incredible package, just got it. Immediately put on the blu-ray with the new surround mixes in master quality, and its so well done.

The book is so great too, the design, the content, all the behind the scenes designs, lyrics, notes, photos...

And then all these discs of demos and alternate takes.

WOW. I can’t wait for the Abbey Road one, and then backwards to Revolver.

The Beatles do have a lot more money than Prince’s estate... but still... just like they hired the Graceland peeps to figure out Paisley Park as a museum, they should get the creative minds behind this to do a Prince set... Black Album + Lovesexy + SOTT maybe as a box? But they could fill just a SOTT one... especially if it contained the Crystal Ball configuration.

I had the Esher demos as a bootleg. It's great to hear them cleaned up. This is an exceptional record by a consistently innovative band.

I am hoping still for Abbey Road album sessions, though who knows what there is with that stuff, it could be true that there was not much not put down from that album because they knew it was going to be over for the most part. My wish is for the Let It Be movie to get a proper release blu ray etc...there is tons of stuff never seen. Also i find it hard to believe there isnt studio film footage from any of this stuff.

I received mine this week. The book looks really good. The album sounds outstanding. I haven't heard the outtakes yet, but look forward to it.

When I finally get this, the blu-ray with the surround mix is the first thing I'm putting on !
