Anthony Bourdain, Blondie's "Rapture", and a Still Clueless Music Industry!

I must admit I'm late to the Anthony Bourdain train, so after his death I've been catching up by watching episodes of "Parts Unknown". Boy what a fantastic show this is. If you've never seen this show you owe it to yourself to catch up. I don't know how he managed to get a team together to put on a show like this but he's a genius nontheless.

The latest episode focuses on New York's Lower East Side, and if you haven't seen it download it from your on demend service pronto. "Parts Unknown" did more musically in one hour than most things ever do anymore. I mean anyone who can unleash Lydia Lunch on an unsuspecting public deserves some sort of kudos.

My gripe begins early in the episode with one of those "insert here" bumpers that takes the place of a song they couldn't play. I was surprised but shook it off. But once they got to Fab Five Freddy and Blondie and another bumber came up for "Rapture" I was pissed!

So obviously Blondie's record company tried to fleece Anthony Bourdain for the use of the song. Why would they do this? Not only did they miss out on being a part of something very special, but the song could've gotten even more exposure as being a part of a cool Anthony Bourdain project, as well as one of his last. It's just the clueless music industries greed refusing to die.

I wish I knew what the other song was, but all I can say is that it's from a guy that used to be in Television and was the inspiration for the creation of The Sex Pistols.

I haven't watched that episode yet. I believe it was his last and final one, which is why I put it off.

It's upsetting to me that such a great human being took his life. sad

Yeah, my son was crushed when he heard the news...
