Had to take a couple of deep breathes when the passing of Roy Hargrove was reported: What a tragic lost, wow.
What I do know is, on Labor Day weekend, the annual Jazz Fest in Chicago... you could find Mr. Hargrove playing at a small joint, Andy's Jazz on Hubert Street. Hargrove tone and timing were impeccable. Unlike many of Hargrove contemporaries who played Flugehorn and Trumpet his expressive melodies / vulnerability he was able to project... was not of this earth.
The world of music, the world of jazz has lost an artist /musician who had said so much and still had so much more to contribute. My goodness,condolences to his family and friends. What a lost... God Rest his soul.
