I think the first track "Til The World Falls Down" is OK....probably the best thing on the album

As a longtime Chic (and Nile Rodgers) fan,I had been eagerly awaiting this album.Unfortunately,it's not exactly what I expected confused these tunes are fun for a few listens but it all wears thin very quickly. And who are all these weak vocalists? eek disbelief In these crazy times,I'm all for a fun dance album but most of these songs simply don't ignite.Rodgers' guitar-playing,of course,is lively but it's not enough to save these interchangeable songs.

I do like "Til The World Falls Down" and there's a very nice mellow track "State Of Mind (It's About Time").

Kinda disappointed in this album. It seems to be missing something.

I rather like it. I wanted it when I first heard it, but at the time, it was not available. Stumbled upon it on iTunes this weekend when I was browsing new releases.

The two folks on the cover are not in the band. They are models Duckie Thot and Jazzelle Zanaughtti. It's supposed to be a modern-day reimagining of Chic's 1977 dedut album cover which also featured two female models...blowing whistles. I suppose Nile was, at lease visually, trying to recapture that same vibe.

Sounds like time stood still. Not sure if that's a good thing. If this is the best track of the album, I don't need to hear the rest. I really do like the photo, though.

The album is very in keeping with the kind of mainstream contemporary dance music that dominates the radio here in the UK. It's not to my taste but, to be fair, that is the musical community that has shown Nile Rodgers the most love in the last few years so it makes sense he would embrace that sound. 'Boogie All Night' is the best track for me, mainly because I think Nao (guest vocalist on the track) is terrifc.

Putting the album aside, I saw the band live on Saturday and it's still one of the best live shows you'll see. Very funky, Rodgers guitar playing remains a pure joy!

Listened to it on the way to a house party, and then played the whole thing start to finish at that house.

It was a great listen. smile

My only issue is it seems to be mastered too loudly, even compared to other current day releases (ie. Cher's ABBum). It gets a bit roaring at times trying to be as loud as possible.

okay, I've listened to it 3 or 4 times by now and it's a slowly growing. not bad, not bad at all.

and yes, the wall of sound is a bit too much confused

hey, maybe someone did a remix without Nile's approval in the dead of night like on the Diana album in 1980? hmmm smile

only that instrumental track feels a little more breezy, this is my fave track so far

sure Tony and especially Bernard ar missing all over the place, but anyway, still a fine album not to be missed

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I wish that Nile had brought in the original ladies of Chic (Alfa Anderson,Luci Martin and Norma Jean Wright). The three of them still perform these days,as a trio. Also would have been nice to hear a new track with Sister Sledge. The vocalists on the new album are not very good, imo.

Not holding my breath but maybe they'll make an appearance on 'Executive Realness'. Alfa's solo album has some great moments. Have you heard it?

'Executive Realness' is the next Nile Rodgers & Chic album set for release in May 2019. He says he recorded enough songs to fill a 2 or 3-disc album.

I wonder why "I'll Be There" and "Back In The Old School" (the tracks released a few years ago) didn't appear on this? They'd have been two of the best on the album...

Like others, I'm not massively into the new album, but the instrumental track's good. Probably the most 'old-school Chic' sounding. I always felt the Chic sound suited more understated-sounding singers than Nile's seemed to consistently go with since 1983, though.

I agree! I think those two songs are better than anything else on the new album.
