Janet Jackson thread Pt 2

The previous thread self-locked.

Remixes for "Made For Now" were talked about briefly. Here is the Eric Kupper Remix on her YouTube.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

On a side note....been watching all the Janet Jackson Clips From Jermaine Dupri "Livin The Life" Vids.... its facinating stuff, and I also remember reading about Janet in Jermaine's Young, Rich, and Dangerous: The Making of a Music Mogul (2008). Pity how they broke up, I thought they were a cute couple.

I agree, it has a great Frankie throwback vibe to it.

Today in 1986, the single for "Control" dropped. I loved the "Video Soundtrack" version. I don't remember too many, if any, artists that would rerecord a song to make it sound "live" for the sake of a video or award show performance. Janet did it a few times, including "What Have You Done For Me Lately" at the AMAs (I think), and the "Control" video. Madonna would later perfect it, doing that for whole tours in case something went wrong and they could flip over to a pre-taped vocal in concert. "Studio Tour" versions of MDNA Tour, Sticky & Sweet Tour, and a couple of others are out there.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Janet Jackson to Receive Global Icon Award at MTV EMAs

-

Janet Jackson is set to receive this year’s Global Icon Award at MTV’s European Music Awards. Jackson will collect the honor at the ceremony Nov. 4 in Bilbao, Spain, where she will also perform a medley of her greatest hits, including recent hit “Made for Now.”

-

“Janet is without question one of the world’s biggest stars,” said Bruce Gillmer, global head of music and talent, Viacom and co-brand head, MTV International. “Her incredible artistry has opened doors for countless others while leaving an indelible impact on pop culture – well over three decades and counting. We’re thrilled to honor her as this year’s MTV Global Icon.”

-

Jackson is one of the best-selling artists of all time with global sales of over 160 million records. She has won six Grammys and seven American Music Awards, as well as receiving Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for original song “Again” from 1993’s “Poetic Justice,” and two Emmy nominations. She also received the Icon Award at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. Her latest hit, “Made for Now,” with Daddy Yankee debuted top of the iTunes charts with the video generating nearly 45 million views.

-

Oscar-nominated actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld will host this year’s MTV EMAs, which take place at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre and airs across MTV’s global network of channels in more than 180 countries.

That "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" awards performance goes down in my book as one of the best award show performances in history. If not THEE best. No joke!

Amen! I TOTALLY agree with U on that.. Even Whitney couldn't help but give it up to Janet.

That's one of my all time favorite performances as well. The all black outfit. The big 80's curly hair. Her attitude. And not to mention that back flip!!! It was just a breathe of fresh air... So different from anything I had ever seen.

I agree with both of you. I'm loving how they brought her vocals to the front, instead of drowning it out. Definitely more pronounced.

-

It might get some play on the dance radio formats on weekends. Hopefully.

Her voice is very warm. That jar of semen must have been quite jarring. (cymbal crash) lol
