Updated: Mariah Carey's New Album + Tour Dates

10/04/18

Carey is slated to perform "With You" at the 2018 American Music Awards on Oct. 9, returning to the AMA stage for the first time in a decade. She is putting the finishing touches on her new album.

I like this one more than GTFO.

Last song didn’t even chart, this will get just as much attention.

One of the best things she has done in years. Part of me feels like it is low key and almost like an album track, but there is some real soul and cleverness in the vocal arrangements. It just hits a sweet spot for me.

The chorus soars for me, and the use of whistle register is used wonderfully. I could say that this is the first thing that I have liked noticed from Mariah in ten years or more. The last thing I remember doing was that song that was about Eminem, and then it would go back to Fantasy when ODB guested on......

It is like a more mellow i'll always be your baby. It takes my ear much more than most Beyonce tracks, and has that subdued quality like Prince's June (maybe a stretch but I mean it reminds me of the mood reflective - not the music itself ((double brackets June always reminds me of the Secret life of Plants for some reason)) )

I could see this song working in a movie soundtrack. It reminds me of the Mariah Carey that we first met, the one that would sing sweet emotions, vision of love, and i'll be there. Kind of more of the Carey I liked than the one that came later (in my opinion anyway)

Thank you for sharing this song.

I feel like I have heard this same song 300 times from Mariah. Uninspired. Undistinctive sounds. Weak music. Punctuated briefly with an out-of-place rapper.

Yes, she can sing but there is no fire.
To my ears.

I don't know why she wanted to include 3 "damns" and 2 "fucks" in the verses, yet she never looked better.

Hi, thank you for posting the video as I had not seen it yet. I did not notice the cursing when I heard the song. The "damns" are colloquial and add emphasisi to what she is talking about. They may be swear words technically but considering Prince had a wonderful song called "Damn U" and it was not bleeped out like Sexy Motherfucker, I would consider the curse word low level, and Mariah probably did not think to hard about using that word. As I said colloquial language that emphasises her characters pain feelings about a subject.

The "fucks" I did not hear when I played this video unless they were edited out. This would be a more deliberate choice to be rawer in her language and would be to show her emotions. You could argue that use of swear words to convey feelings is weak lyricism like a comic working blue, but I don't think it really is the case on this song which is simple story telling capturing of the emotion.

Mariah looks lovely here and she should be proud of the outcome of the work she did in this video, and I think this is the best she has looked since her debut. The black and white is classic and fit the song.

Mariah Carey today announced the title and release date of her upcoming 15th studio album. It’s called Caution and will drop, according to a Twitter post from the singer earlier today. It follows and presumably will include the two singles she’s released in the past few weeks, the surprisingly NSFW “GTFO” and the album’s official first single, “With You.”

The singer made the announcement via a brief video clip on social media, accompanied by her son Morocco a.k.a. Rocky.

Speaking of “GTFO,” Carey said: “I wanted to give my fans and everyone a first listen that wasn’t so serious. I’ve had so much fun making this album, and I wanted the first moment to reflect that light-hearted spirit.”

The album is Carey’s first since 2014 and also the first release since she inked an exclusive partnership with her imprint Butterfly MC Records and Epic in the spring of 2017; she also signed a management deal with Roc Nation late last year.

It comes out November 16, 2018.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Mariah is one of those artists who just makes the same album over and over.

It worked for Anita Baker and Kem. lol Honestly, I think Kem recorded dozens of songs in 2003 and has released all of them over a 10 year period because all of his albums are almost carbon copies of each other. There is zero variation in sound. Anita was the same way. She found a sound that worked for her and she did not deviate from it.

I watched her perform this on the AMAs but I can't be bothered to listen to the studio version. E=MC2 was good after the first two songs, I haven't been able to listen to anything she's released since then all the way through.

I wonder if she'll perform this in a bathing suit like she does her religious Xmas songs.

But KEM sells about six copies of an album and is far from being a "spotlight" type artist that MARIAH has been for years, MC does not grow because her choices are lousy, and boring and she works on a blueprint. I can hear MC song from the last 20 years or so and not be able to tell you what album its from because they are all the same album. She was the beginning of the era of artist who just made some singles and boring albums.

Mariah has not been in the spotlight or relevant since 2005. And at her age, no one except her core audience really cares about whether or not she is recording new music. At this point, no matter what she does, radio will ignore her. Like Janet Jackson, the best she can hope for is some attention at R&B A/C radio.

As far as KEM, I believe most, if not all of his albums have been certified Gold and NO ONE gets as much air time on R&B A/C radio as he does. All of his songs, IMO, are so interchangable. But, he is much beloved on that radio format.

Sounds like something that didnt make one of the Fifth Harmony ladies solo records, bad timing on these releases, theres plenty of this out there, plus Ty is like the male Cardi B its becoming tired quick and he is almost old news.

Don't lile With You much. Sounds like something off of E=MC2. I do pike that new one The Distance. Its a new sound for her. Really lile the atmospheric keys and her use of her lower register like GTFO.
