R.I.P. James "Big Jim" Wright

Noted keyboards player that worked quite a bit with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis has passed.

Wright was also a co-writer on several hits songs by Janet Jackson. The multi-talented musician has written, produced or played on albums from dozens of pop music’s top artists, including Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Mariah Carey, Usher, Sounds of Blackness, Celine Dion and many more..

He was found dead in his home in Rockford, Illinois, Wright was 52 years old.

Holy crap! omg I feel so bad he passed away, but he's from my hometown. Sadly, I didn't hear anything about this on my local news last night, though they did mention the passing of Otis Rush. I knew he worked with Mariah Carey on a couple of albums. This is so sad.

OH NO! Big Jim was all over the Mpls landscape with Jam & Lewis. His name is all over records whether Jam & Lewis or otherwise. I always saw him as a quiet talent among many stars.

I forget, was he the other guy in the "Control" video, that never really said anything in the car?

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

James keyboard chords brought out Janet’s sultry vocals even more!

Why are ALL the gifted musical geniuses dropping dead!? He will be so missed
. sad

But the REAL news I get from this is James was really a GHOSTWRITER! That the more established producers used.

This is my favourite Big Jim Wright and Mariah collaboration.
It’s one of my favourite songs.
It may be the prettiest song ever

I loved the soul Big Jim brought to Flyte Tyme and the richer songs in Mariah Carey's catalog (even her Christmas shit). It was nice to see him on Mariah's World, too.
