For me, the original will always reign supreme. However, Chantay's execution of the song makes her version slightly unique. You feel the pain and rebelliousness in her delivery and it fits given the content. I really enjoy Chantay's version. I'm going to have revisit her first album. Haven't listened to it in years. | |

I'm with blacknote on this. The original is what it is and it is a classic. Chantay really brought something new to a song that most may not think to sing that way. When you slow down a song like that and try to mid-tempo the fuck out of it, it could go really well or be a disaster. In this case, they nailed it. I have the 12" single to it.
