I know his story inside out through various documentaries ("Listen Up!" from 1990 is really dope!) and having read his autobiography, but I'm still very anxious to finally see this! [Edited 9/7/18 5:30am]

Anyone else watch this yet, it's been on Netflix now since the 21st...? Like I said above, I know the ins and outs of his (granted, amazing) story, but was still delighted to watch this. Nothing really new - and they seem to recycle a lot of stuff like some interviews from the "Listen Up!" doc I mentioned - but lots of behind-the-scenes stuff, also some that I hadn't seen. Just reminded me how beautiful the production / arrangement on a song like "STOMP!" is, for example! By the way, in case someone is wondering why Chaka and Ronson are up there - there seems to be a new (?) song that's co-written with him which Chaka sings. Sounds almost like vintage Off The Wall era stuff. (Ronson also used to date Rashida...)

I have mixed emotions with Q lol but I very much enjoyed this & it brought a tear to my eye more than once. "So much has been written about me, & people don't know what's right & what's wrong. I'd rather let them stay confused." ~ Prince.

I got the email update from Netflix on this feature. > 1) While attending Liv Warfield and the NPG Horns show the other night, she recommended that the audience watch this documentary (her act is smokin', BTW!). Like a good sheep, I went home afterward and did just that. > 2) I hadn't realized that Rashida Jones was QJ's daughter. No duh, I guess, but for whatever reason I didn't put those 2 together. I love her work both in front of and behind the camera. To see this focus on her dad was very charming. > 3) It was an extraordinary behind-the-scenes view, which I appreciated, and great to be reminded of the scope of his career. And my, what a woraholic he has been--his work has been a major driver of his life-force.

I enjoyed it. I have never been a fan pre 1979, but now I'd love 2 explore his pre 1979 work. He is a very interesting character.
