I really like it. His last 3 albums have been really strong. He had been playing it far too safe until Black And White America but that album, Strut and now the new one have really stepped it up. They're still unmistakably Lenny Kravitz albums but there's a freshness to them that I found lacking from his previous albums.

I noticed that it got an initial metacritic rating of 56, which is ridulously low. Pretty much everything else has a higher rating no matter how bad it is. I have never understood the complete disdain that the critics have had for Lenny. Yes, he is derivative, but so is almost everyone else. At least he does it well!

IMO, this song right here called "Who Really Are The Monsters" is his most obvious nod 2 The Purple One.

There are actually a few times on this record where he's reminding me of Prince. "Five Days Till Summer" is another example and so is "Gold Dust" with the slapped basslines.

He gives gratitiude to "The spirit of PRINCE ROGERS NELSON" in the credits. I just KNEW there was gonna be a Prince dedication of some kind on this album.

Yeah this album's sounding pretty decent, I do find a lot of his post 2000 releases too polished and a bit bland, but this one sounds a little better. "Who really are the monsters" is very early 80's Prince, especially the drum pattern.

His previous album, "Strut", is probably as close as he'll ever get to doing a full on funk album. Though I think that with some creative editing, you could make a really good Lenny Kravitz funk album by combining tracks from his last 3 releases.

I could care less about Lenny winning a grammy, but I do love him and his music. The new album is pretty good. Still new to me, but I'm liking what I'm hearing so far.

Love Raise Vibration. Solid album. I really like the 70's vibe with the Horns, reminds me of Off The Wall

His best record in a LONG time, was not crazy about the last few albums, but this one hit me first listen straight through, one of his if not best records.

I'm lovin' the album, lots of good tracks on it, including Low, the Prince-nod Who Really are the Monsters, the funky Majesty of Love and the groovy It's Enough. Raise Vibration is also a cool and weird track and the opener We Can Get it All Together is simple but quite effective.

Thumbs up Lenny!

i haven't listened to lenny in probably 20 years, and i've got nothing bad to say about the guy; but wouldn't it be fun if, just one time, the dude put an album out without a photo of himself as the cover image?

I hope he will be on some episodes of Empire this season. He and Naomi Cambel(both Geminis)play the parents of of one of the girls in the series Star. Both great shows!

well, sure...it's just funny trying to reconcile 'let love rule' with 'look at my $3000 shabby sheik outfit and $1000 sunglasses while i prance on the beach in the bahamas and be sexy'.

how about a painting of/by lenny? maybe a flower? a stack of cash? some kind of design?

but, whatever...he can do what he wants. more power to him.

You have a point. But when I think of Lenny Kravitz (and I often do) I think of him prancing on a beach in the Bahamas in expensive-yet-cheap-looking clothes while trying to look sexy. Sometimes holding a Flying V guitar. So his album covers make sense to me.

I haven't really been into Lenny since the Circus album (which I didn't really get into). But I kinda like this. I'd love to see him get some type of formal recognition from his recording academy peers for something that's quality, but the fact that his only grammys came from his most cheesy (to me) album ever makes me not care about awards anymore at all for him. Instead of him getting a grammy I hope people really pick this up and appreciate him for the talented dude that he is.

Change it one more time..

Based on the recommendations here, I will do just that. I haven't listened to Lenny in many years...it's about time to check this one out.
