He's the bass player, just signing because they let him (have his fun). Dont take it too serious.

I saw this coming when the vids of the fellas from Metallica playing around with Garbage's "Stupid Girl" at their Madison, WI show (apparently the city where Garbage was formed).

.

They're just having fun between segments, nothing serious. I think it is a nice touch for fans as the tour attendees are able to order MP3 or CD versions of their shows with their tickets.

if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

love Rob also, stud bass player, who has a soul and funk upbringing, they could have done a better job.

this was not good nor did it add any groove which is Trujillo's niche.

Hammett with all the big name teachers still is not a good guitar player imo, so I was not expecting much from him.

Music is the best...

Years ago, there were videos of Metallica performing Sister and the riff of Michael Jackson's Beat It. Mike was still alive at the time.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Thank you for the confirmation!!! For years I've been wondering if i imagined that Metallica had performed Sister. I saw the video on their website, but when i went to check months later, i couldn't find it(and i still haven't been able to find it). From what i remember, it was either a sound check or them messing around in their studio. But, it could have been in concert. And from what i remember, it sounded pretty good...

Anyway, yesterday i viewed that doves cry performance...it sucked. I didn't even finish watching it. I'm a fan of Metallica(used to be a major, major fan of them), but Kirk is a sloppy ass player live. I get that they were just messing around, but it still sucked.

DO NOT WATCH THIS. YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU DO.

That was beyond horrible. I guess I appreciate the thought, but that was just so bad.

I appreciate the tribute but I really have no need to see it.

Oh God, I dont even want to listen to this.... I know I will.....

after work.

UPDATE:.... WATCHED IT AT WORK... Geez... I don't mean to be mean, but that pretty much sucked. Even a detuned version shouldve sounded better.

right down to Kirk's weak ass ending solo....

Oh well.. 4 minutes I'll never get back. But I'm glad they did it. Some "Metal" fans have completely skewered isolationist "tastes"... I'm glad they suffered as well

You guys are SURE it was SISTER? How much of the riff was played? I ask because the rhythm is similar to Stone Cold Crazy by Queen (essentially Freddie + Brian's modulation and speeding up)

I wouldn't doubt it about BEAT IT... that riff is Steve Lukather's gift to the album, although the vocal demo by Michael it's beyond amazing, that riff was done (as was much) by Steve and TOTO... I've heard that jammed by plenty of hard rock and metal bands and limp bizkit (yes, they're still around) for the sheer fact that it inspires and relates a youthful joy to everybody that "remembers the time".. i always have a hard time understanding "die- hard" metal heads who ignore the fact that most metal musicians listen to anything but metal when chilling on their own

Yep. It wasn't just the music, there were lyrics as well. And the video was described as Sister. And as i mentioned before, i saw it on their website. I saw maybe 40 seconds of the performance, so that's why i questioned if Metallica had actually covered Sister. And as Mickey stated, this was years ago.

Mission Freaking Accomplished, LOL. That did not sound good to ANYONE'S ears.

But dang - they're pros. I'm not but even a hack like me wouldn't have considered that kind of a performance "fun". They did a lot better on "Let's Go Crazy" at the end, though.
