Demi Lovato Hospitalized For Heroin Overdose

source

She's battled addiction for years, and was sober for a long while.

_____________

Demi Lovato was rushed to an L.A. hospital after suffering what appears to be a heroin overdose ... law enforcement tells TMZ.

Our sources say Demi was transported from a home in the Hollywood Hills just before noon Tuesday, and is currently being treated. We do not know her condition.

Demi has fought substance abuse for years ... at one point she lived in a sober living home after getting released from a treatment center. She had been 6 years sober from alcohol, cocaine and Oxycontin.

Last month she released a song called "Sober" where she revealed she had fallen off the wagon.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I hope she makes it through. I loved her song "Cool For The Summer" a sizzling rock pop track.

You never kicked the addiction. You're always an addict whether you've been sober 20 year or 20 days. But I get what you mean.

Ditto. nod I know she's been struggling with bipolar disorder for a long time, and she's gone through bouts of alcoholism, bulimia, pills, etc. She's been brave to come forward with her issues, but all of this bipolar disorder and addiction are really powerful illnesses, and they can strike back and hard at a moment's notice. So I really hope she gets well.

Reports say it was not heroin, but she was treated at the scene with Narcan (the same thing Prince was brought back with on the plane). So we can assume it was an opioid, but not heroin specifically. She was not cooperative w/ EMTs at the scene. She's stable now.

There is no investigation of criminal activity because she didn't divulge what she took, nor were any drugs found at the house, nor can the police determine if she was in possession of anything illegal.

She had taped an episode of Beat Shazam due to air tonight and, while the guide still showed her name, the episode was yanked in favor of a repeat in light of today's events.

So I guess it’s safe to assume this is a behavioral health issue and not any physical/chronic pain issues like with Prince? Saying some prayers for her.

Yeah I read some horrible things on other sides too. Some people really lack human decency.

It seems that those close to her are rallying around her. I'm sure she'll be headed back to rehab.

Also read a story today where they (the people she was with) had narcan shots on hand for this type of thing. I don't know if it's true or not, didn't delve that deep into it.

Her people must be more in tune with her, then Prince's people were with him.

Poor thing! Heroin is making a comeback in LA and whats worse is most of the folks who indulge in it are early 20 kids sad I understand certain drugs get "trendy" - for lack of a better term - and we all fuck up in our youth, but heroin?! That stuff is a life sentence, hard to beat unless you have a real strong will and an equally strong support system. I truly hope she beat this thing though.

I was talking to a friend the other day and wondered if heroin was making a comeback. I noticed a lot of used needles littering city streets in the past few months... confused

Just a quick fact, I know in LA and definitely NYC since i live here and see it everyday, the rise of homeless is beyond belief, you will sometimes go 20-30 blocks till you do not see a few sleeping on the street. BUT here in NYC police do not get involved mainly because of the horrible mayor we have, but also because a lot of this rise is from DRUGS not poverty and down on hard times, loss jobs etc...its many addicted to hard drugs such as heroin which i think right now all of this should be approached with as MUCH intensity as we approach fighting terrorism which I mean is useless, we lost over 100,000 to overdoses since Prince's death, thats an epidemic folks, and yet we get scared shitless when 8 people die of the flu or get lyme disease.

^^Wow, scary and horrible, and I agree, something should be done about the drug epidemic, but I don't think that fighting terrorism is "useless"...we can't just ignore terrorism and do nothing about it, and run the risk of being attacked, it's important that our country is protected from it also.

I believe tge whole fighting terrorisme has a huge political agenda. If you really look how maby died because of terrosim and how much money we spend on it in the west, its ridiculous. There are way, way bigger problems.

They said this morning that her dealer brought oxy mixed with fentanyl to her house and they sniffed it together. The dealer said he had no idea it had fentanyl in it.

TMZ broke the story ... Demi had been in contact with Johnson since April, and sources say he had supplied her with drugs.

We're also told Johnson is the man Demi texted to come over at 4 AM the morning she overdosed after freebasing Oxycodone potentially laced with fentanyl.

A source connected to Brandon tells us he's been telling friends he and Demi have had a "romantic relationship" but other sources say there was no romantic relationship. We're also told he denies "dealing" her drugs.

Yes, she is very lucky.
