I was talking about R. Kelly on a road trip last night. No question the things he’s accused of are horrible, but ever since Kelly released albums, he’s talked about sex and how freaky he is.

If a lady artist sang about how she loved to mental abuse her partners during relationships, how the heck am I surprised if I choose to entertain her company??

The majority of his catalog is sexual. I’m so lost at why people are angry and shocked by this guy

Chris Brown treats women HORRIBLY. Is there any body on this thread that would seriously be shocked if he did it again??

I listened to it- not because it was a decent song (it wasn't) but because of things revealed throughout the 19 minutes.

My jaw dropped when he admitted (and I had no idea) that he doesn't own his publishing and is constantly touring to pay (legal) bills.

That was a COMPLETE shock to me also! He said he signed it away. Because he didn't know how to read the contract. disbelief

That is so tragic.

That and talking about a family member touched him until he was 14 years old. Jesus man.
As well him talking about her father pushed her to be with Kelly then get mad when she wanted to run away with him. Meh. He could have done much more to sway reports by having her out on a date etc because thet interview was still suspicious asa hell. She look like she can't speak for herself. He said he has to tour because he was broke though. Damn man. Who knew this man didnt own his music? He said he even tried to buy it from them and they will not let him. Wow. This is the stuff Prince was talking about.

Umm, how did Elton get into an R Kelly thread? Elton has done nothing that Kelly has done.

And I also haven't heard 1 peep about Elton abusing anybody.

it's MANY entertainers that have done far worse than The R. Also it's MANY that are into the same things.

Does that make it OK for what Kelly is doing?

I already knew about the other things. It's all nothing that I haven't heard before. Women and girls always threw themselves at him. When I saw him live for the umpteenth time just barely two years ago. They were walking up to the stage grabbing his crotch. In fact at one time one woman and her DAUGHTER whom were both dressed in see through lace outfits with NO UNDERWEAR! Were trying to get backstage. They did eventually get through.

But the signing away of his publishing! He will NEVER get that back.

The entertainment business is a cold, cruel one, and unfortunately when entertainers are young and trying to become a "star"...desperately wanting fame and fortune and willing to do anything to get it, they blindly go into the business without knowledge, and end up getting badly used and taken advantage of. It's a disgusting shame, but that's the price many pay for fame and fortune. Show business is a dark, evil business.

LMAO at the excuses for Robert Kelly. I'm supposed to feel sorry for him. Hell no.

He cocky and arrogant as fuck about molesting these teens. I saw where his ex wife

made a mockery of his song. Just think about it turnabout is fair play. He was taking advantage

of young girls and the record company were taking advantage of him. I still kind of find it hard to

believe he can't read and is illiterate. I call bullshit on that. Surprised he didn't come up with a fake gospel number this time. That is usually his stick when sexual allegations with minors come up.

Yep, I don't know how anyone can make excuses for the asshole, or why they would even try to.

he must be in a bad state financially to be pleading and fishing for sympathy with his "admissions" of bad business decisions. That's all it's about. His lawyers are probably milking him dry right now.

Trying to come at this pretending not to be judgemental, what are the bullet points in the song, if someone doesn't mind elaborating? I mean I get it he's an artist and people should respect him for his art, blah, blah, blah. But honestly he isn't coming up with the cure for cancer, the world isn't going to be losing anything it truly needs by refusing to turn a blind eye to bad predatory behavior. So I think it's a stunt him answering these very serious allegations in a song and I have no intentions of ever listening to it.

DonRants

Let's not conflate a young and desperate artist being taken advanged of by record companies and unscrupulous individuals with the unethical conduct of R.Kelly. After reading about it more and seeing a few videos and documentaries, I think he was both a victim of abuse himself and he has gone on to hurt others. He should have gotten help a long time ago..but I don't know if there is treatment for what he has.

Having said that, I am tired of hearing stories about artist being ripped off of their publishing. I remember Prince saying it should be illegal for someone to "own" someone else's work and I agree with Prince...even if that someone is R. Kelly.

What would be really "Karmic justice" is if something bad happens to the persons who molested R. Kelly when he was only 8 years to 14 years old.
