Are there any? Prince built a place for people to come see him play and invited them to do so. Tickets were reasonable, not just for the elite. He ad-libbed in songs about people needing to come visit, and even cooking food at Paisley Park. Any other artist, even a non-musician ever do anything like that?

Maybe Dollywood, but it was built to be a theme park.

Didn't Taylor Swift do that a few years ago, maybe when Red or 1989 came out? Michael Jackson certainly did. I can't imagine that some people in R&B or Hip-Hop haven't had a gaggle of fans at their mansions partying and playing music.

I remember one thing Taylor Swift did. There's a big country music event each year in Nashville and each star gets their own tent. They sign autographs for an hour or two. But not Taylor Swift.

She said she would sign an autograph, take a picture, or even make a phone call for any and every fan that wanted her to. She stayed there for something like 13 hours. It was awesome.

I don't doubt all that. But I do remember a video of the whole thing w/ fans at her home and them listening to her record and having a big party.

Did Michael Jackson Perform at Neverland? Or maybe the other Jacksons? Don't know much about that part of it. He came down to St Croix in the early 90s to view a (gorgeous) piece of property there to build another Neverland type place. But it never happened.

She is more accessible than most entertainers these days. Does some real cool stuff.

Just seems like Prince was pretty out there with wanting to interact, building an entire complex with live performances for fans in mind. Even though it morphed over the years, he did care about that until the very end it seems.

I honestly can't stand the heifer.

Only thing I can think of - Zach De La Rocha from Rage ATM used to have a sorefront in East LA, like a 2-story building, that he lived in as well. He also had printing presses in there, that must have been used by local lefty political groups. There was also a full stage and PA, and he would sometimes put on shows there. I saw the band Wool there one night. There was a ladder leading up to a small loft, which I assume was his bedroom. There were maybe 100 people there, hanging out and drinking beer out of cans.

I remember seeing him around that night, seemed like a pretty accessible dude. This was at the height of their fame, probably 1995 or so.
