Holy F**k ! I'm stunned....wow...

I met Vinnie one time in Dallas. He was hanging at the Bomb Factory. I would not consider myself a huge fan of Pantera but they made a massive impact on metal with Vulgar Display of Power and they stayed down to earth. Gone too soon Vinnie and Dime. RIP

I never met him but he walked right by me once. This was around 2001, in Seattle. He had just left his hotel, and walked right next to me. I kinda froze up and didn't speak...It was crazy that just a few years later his brother got murdered. I remember that day well. The local news had erroneously reported that Phil Anselmo was the one who got killed. I felt bad about that, but wasn't really surprised. When i found out that it was Dime who got killed though, that was a total shock. Especially in the way that he died...

Anyway, Vinnie's death is almost as shocking. Fifty four is way too young to die. I wonder what caused his death? Vinnie was somewhat overweight(and had been for a long time), and was a pretty hard drinker. So, i wouldn't be surprised if hard living had finally caught up with him...It sucks period that he died, but it would suck even more if it was in any way drug related.

Life is a trip. You can have people like Phil Anselmo or Ozzy Osborne, who've abused their bodies in such ways(massive amounts of coke, heroin, overdoses, actually dying, etc) that they probably should have died years ago. And then you have other people that for the most part didn't go to those extremes, and they are the ones who end up dying...

So... Vinnie and Dime were two really talented brothers. And they both have left a lasting legacy in music.

I just said hello, nice to meet you.. to him and he was there watching Buckcherry and Sick Puppies at a tattoo convention. One thing I like about them, they were friends with guys from Poison, RATT to Slayer and Megadeth. They never got the attitude that they were too cool to say go see the Sick Puppies. I remember too when Dime was killed. I know Phil said some stuff in press weeks before but that was when Metal was sort of like wrestling and they talked trash in the press. It was a shame that some psycho took it literally. Without a doubt, I think if Dime was not murdered that Pantera would eventually get back together. I was not a big fan but also think "Walk" is an awesome song and timeless. It is groovy metal! From what I understand Dime and Vinnie were just super cool guys all around. I wish that Phil could have rekindled and made good with him but even if he moved past it must have been just too difficult.
