Triumph is such a wonderful record, front to back. There is not a bad song on it. If memory serves, the song sort of runs out with a Prince-esque bit of "confusion".
This remix seems a tad slower and feels like its key is a half-step lower. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Nah, artists weren't doing that. You simply faded other songs sooner, or cut a verse, etc. You're assuming the album version is sped up, when in fact the remix posted could be slowed down.

On the contrary artists were doing that. Especially MJ. Actually On the Bad album, 4 or 6 tracks are sped up to 6 percent: Bad, Dirty Diana...I was very disappointed when I learned of that. . Prince did that too. . I love the new bridge on Wondering Who. Triumph and Destiny are better than Off the Wall, for sure. |

It certsinly was. Nick confirmed it in the comments. He has the multitracks and i played it side by side to check. the album version is slightly higher tempo |

Parts of Strawberry Fields by The Beatles was speeded up because John wanted 2 different takes put together. George Martin told him they were in 2 different keys & tempos and it wouldn't work. But John wanted Martin to fix it. I've read that some pressings of Miles Davis' album Kind Of Blue were speeded up but others are at the right speed. I've never heard of anybody making songs faster to fit on an album though. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B.
